The Waitangi Tribunal says slow progress calculating compensation to Māori health providers risks further prejudice.

It's also calling on the government to ensure the newly appointed Māori Health Authority - which it is cautiously welcoming - is given enough power to uphold tino rangatiratanga. 

It's the final chapter of the first stage of the Waitangi Tribunal Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry, known as Wai 2575 - which encompasses a number of claims.
