What do past generations in our family have to do with the way we view fitness, eating habits, nutrition, and body image today? What does God have to say about these things, and how can we break free so we may rewrite our healing stories with Jesus?
Today on the show, with my AMAZING, special guest, we’ll be addressing these questions candidly. It is God who brings dark things to light so we may truly be healed and walk in freedom in Christ!
Gina is an author, speaker, and therapist, specializing in trauma, and she loves the Lord. Jesus and therapy changed her life! We met a year ago on an airplane (A Divine “God connection”), and I am so very blessed to bring this episode to you, for such a time as this!

Questions to take before the Holy Spirit and ask ourselves —
- What was I taught to believe about my body, preferably at a young age?
- Do I recall any comments that were made about my body or the food that I ate or whether I exercised or didn’t? Was any of that tied to my worth?
- Was I praised or criticized for how I looked?
- Was I praised or criticized for my performance in sports, dance or gymnastics? How was that related to my personal feeling of acceptance?
- How did I hear mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, an older sibling (or other close relative) refer to their own bodies?
- How did my parent’s talk about each others body?
- What was I taught about food and exercise growing up? What did I learn?
*Write down your God-best version of yourself and your fitness and health. What does that look like to you?
*What does God say about your body, health and fitness, and your worth?
Scriptures to Encourage You -
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love. 1 John 4:18
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Ephesians 3:19
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, a sound mind, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
