Paul continues his defense of the doctrine of justification by faith alone in Christ alone. He now moves into the logical aspect of his argument. Our faith is both logical and reasonable. This great doctrine is logical as well.
Paul hits a high point in his argument. He declares that all those justified by faith alone in Christ alone are all sons of God. Furthermore, we all are one in Christ. And finally, we are Abrahm's seed. We are partakers off the inheritance of Abraham through faith.
This has been some of Paul's strongest writing. It is strong because Paul is in a battle to prove that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. It is a battle and Paul treats it as such.
The battle continues to this day. Have we determined to stand strong, hold fast and to never depart from the truth of this great biblical doctrine? Are we, like Paul, willing to fight, regardless of cost, for the great doctrine of justification by faith alone in Christ alone?

We now look at the days of Noah prior to the flood. It is critical that we glean thoroughly from this passage. Jesus stated that the days prior to His return would be just like the days of Noah. This passage makes it clear that we are living in the last of the last days.
While the information we have is minimal, it is enough to know that it was a time of unprecedented evil. It was a spiritually dark time. It was time when the wickedness of man was great throughout the entire earth. The state of man grieved the heart of God.
In all of this we have a brilliant glimmer heaven. But Noah found grace in the eyes of God. Noah did not earn or deserve the grace of God. God's grace found Noah.
God's grace will always rise victorious. God's grace triumphantly assures us that His will, His plans and His purpose will never fail.

Paul continues his argument for the doctrine of justification by faith alone in Christ alone. His argument now transitions into the scriptures.
This argument will once again conclude, according to God's word, that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. We are justified by faith alone. Furthermore, we are sanctified by faith alone.
Why would anyone who has been delivered from the bondage of the law choose to return to and live in the bondage that they have been delivered from?
We need to stop being so busy trying to be something better and abide in what Christ has already done for us.

In this study, we continue to look at and draw lessons from the life of Cain. Cain was a man who clearly knew the truth of God, yet he chose to turn from it. Cain is a picture of every apostate who has lived and is alive today. The way of Cain is an intolerable life. It is a fruitless search for satisfaction apart from God. Such is the way for all who turn from the known truth found in Jesus Christ and His word.
We also looked at two Enochs. One from the line of Cain and one from the line of Adam through Seth. Enoch from the line of Cain has everything that life could offer except for God. All that he had and would be remembered by perished in the flood.
The Enoch from the line of Adam walked with God. He had a deep abiding relationship with God. This Enoch lives on in eternity. His name is recorded in the hall of faith eternally.
Which Enoch are we? Are we walking with God focused on eternity. Or are we living for this world and its temporal treasures?

Paul now transitions from a personal defense to a definitive argument concerning the defense of the doctrine of justification by faith. Over the next few chapters will see some of the strongest words Paul ever used in scripture.
Why the strong, direct, severe words? There is a battle raging. It is a battle for the heart of the gospel. It is a battle for the truth of God's word. The battle centers on salvation by grace alone or by works of the law.
This is a battle that continues to rage today. Failure to fight this battle has allowed a flood of deception to enter the church. Apostasy has risen to a level never before seen.
We are in this battle whether we choose to accept it or not. Do not take it lightly or half-heartedly. Resolve now to fight this battle.

In this study we see Cain and Abel bringing their sacrifices before the LORD. God accepted Abel's but rejected Cain's. Why? Abel presented his sacrifice by faith, Cain did not.
God showed great longsuffering with Cain. Cain had opportunity to repent. However, he chose instead to murder his brother. What began as disobedience in the garden has now manifested itself in first degree murder of the innocent. Such is the ultimate outcome of all sin.
As a result of Cain's refusal to repent and subsequent murder of his brother, he has now become a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth. His life has now become intolerable. A fruitless search for satisfaction.
In all of this we see a picture of Jesus. To Jesus the mediator of the new covenant and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 12:24

We continue to focus on the doctrine of justification by faith. The importance of this doctrine cannot be overstated. It is the gospel. It is the cornerstone of doctrines.
Today the gospel is under attack like never before. There is a full court press to draw the masses into the deception of a false gospel. Many in the church are falling for this false gospel. Few in the pulpit are willing to stand up for the truth of God's word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
With that in mind, we can be thankful for the courage displayed by Paul. Paul was 100% correct according to the scriptures yet he was in the minority. Paul risked everything to stand up for the truth of God's word, to stand up for the doctrine of justification by faith.
Do we understand the wonderful doctrine of justification by faith? Are we willing to risk everything for the truth found in Jesus Christ and His word? Are we willing to stand up for the true gospel according to the word of God.

In this study we see the consequences of sin. Eve was deceived, Adam transgressed; transgression will always follow deception. It can never be stated too strongly to be on guard against all deception. Why? A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
Now in all of this, Adam and Eve made the choice to disobey God's command. Therefore, they were responsible for the consequences.
While their sin was great, God's grace is greater. In this passage we see the gospel presented to us twice. We have a wonderful prophesy concerning the virgin birth of Christ and His ultimate victory over Satan. We also see how on the blood of Christ can take away our sin.

Set before us in this study is a key turning point in the history of the church. The truth of the gospel according to God's word is at stake.
Peter, an apostle and early leader in the church, through his actions had played the hypocrite. His actions caused others to play the hypocrite as well. Because of their hypocrisy, they were not straightforward about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Paul, seeing the great danger in this, immediately confronted Peter to his face and did so publicly. Peter was dead wrong according to the scriptures. No one is above God's word. Peters' transgression was done publicly. It impacted everyone in the church. Therefore, public rebuke according to God's word was the proper thing to do.
This passage is rich with lessons both clear and unmistakable. Paul would not be moved for an instant from the truth of the gospel. Are we, like Paul, willing to stand up for the truth found in Jesus Christ and His word? Are we willing to unwaveringly stand up for the truth of the gospel?

As we come to the end of chapter 2, everything is absolutely perfect. There is no sin at all, not even a trace. But this would all come to an end. How did it come to an end?
Satan, who had already fallen, entered the garden of Eden cleverly deceiving and tempting Eve. Eve was deceived and gave in to the temptation, thus sin entered the world. She then went to Adam, and he transgressed.
While we see the devastating entrance of sin into the world, we are also given a template of how Satan will tempt each one of us. We have his playbook. This may be one of the best passages to make us aware of the enemy's tactics and how best to defend against them in our spiritual walk.
May God open His word to our hearts. As we live in obedience to the word of God, may we be filled with the Holy Spirit. May we learn from this passage how to live the victorious Christian life.
