The Way Church Teaching

See His Face (Revelation 22:1-5)

Chris Price | Advent

December 17, 2023

At Christmas we meditate on the advent of Jesus Christ—God with us in the muck and mire of history.

We remind ourselves that God is at work in our world, His light pushing back the darkness, testifying to the coming dawn.

At Advent we anticipate that one day God will straighten out what sin has made crooked, healing the brokenness of our world, making all things new through Jesus.

This is a future we can trust.

Because, during Advent, we celebrate that God keeps all His promises in Jesus.

What Are We Waiting For? (Revelation 21:1-5) - Elita Friesen | Advent | December 3, 2023

At Christmas we meditate on the advent of Jesus Christ—God with us in the muck and mire of history.

After setting the people of Israel free from bondage in Egypt, God spoke Ten Words to promote and protect the freedom of His people. Ten words that were crucial in forming Israel’s identity as a newly liberated nation, rescued from slavery in Egypt, breathing the fresh air of freedom for the first time. Today these Ten Words are famously known as the Ten Commandments. In a day of increasing moral ambiguity and uncertainty; in the midst of the cacophony of differing voices and differing visions of the good life, these Ten Words are an invitation into a life of true human flourishing. For those seeking right relationship with God and others. For those looking for guidance in a fractured and broken world. For those longing for moral clarity in all the confusion.God gives us these Ten Commandments. Ten Words endorsed by the Creator of all things. Ten Words that reflect His character to us. Ten Words designed by the Creator to bring freedom and life to His people.
