August 08, 2021 Which one has better future: Development or Test Automation?
In this episode, i will discuss what is better Development or Test Automation. A lot of manual testers have this query, which i will try to discuss in this podcast. The brief of the episode -
Let's first understand what is Test Automation. Earlier everything used to be manual in testing. The testers used to go to every web-app and check the click, login and other functionality.

Now this is a very manual job and a junior tester can also do it. So, senior manual testers started to loose jobs, which they are loosing even today.

Automation testing came into picture some years back, in which you have to write test cases in programming languages like python and Java. And then they will run in application like selenium. It feels like a magic, when you see a Selenium running on your web-app, with everything done automatically.

But most manual testers hated it till date, as they had to learn programming. But it have a good future at least for the next 5-6 years. The reason is that these tools keep on changing.

But if a tester learnt python or Java because of these tools, he can easily switch to development. Because development will be out there till AI starts coding better then humans ie next 30-40 years.

So, if you are a tester and want to continue in the field learn programming languages like python/Java and move to automation testing.

You can also directly move to development, which will always have and exiting and great future.

August 06, 2021What is the future of a Web Developer?
In this episode, i am going to discuss the future of Web-developer. A brief overview of the episode.
The real power of Internet started in 2010, when everything started to move towards web-app.

Before that it was the era of desktop app created in Java. All the enterprise apps were made in Java or .NET.

It all started with the invention of Facebook, which added complex logic to app on the internet.

The creation of great open source JavaScript framework Angular helped the case and people were able to make complex apps.

Then React came and it became even more popular then Angular and rest is history.

In the previous decade, the open source software rose a lot with backing from big giants. All great softwares from MongoDB, NodeJS and many others which gels well with React are open-source.

Now a startup or individual can launch a great web-app using these products.

The web-app ecosystem is growing and their is no turning back. It will keep on growing for the next two decades and web-app developers will be in great demand.

The future is web-app and it will continue to be so. But anyone entering this field will have to learn continuously and keep upgrading, with the latest in React ecosystem.

August 04, 2021How to become a ReactJS Developer?
In this episode, we will learn how to become a ReactJS developer.
ReactJS is nothing but a JavaScript library.

First learn the basics of web-development before moving to ReactJS.

Start with HTML basics, then learn CSS basics in which learn both flexbox and Grid.

JavaScript is very vast, so learn JavaScript basics followed by JavaScript DOM.

After that learn Async JavaScript- Callback functions, promises, async await

Then learn ES6, whose concepts are widely used in ReactJS.

Now start with React class based learnings. Learn state, props, lifecycle methods and other things.

Now move to hook based functional components, which is a must to start new project.

Also learn Redux, which is a must to maintain global state and medium level projects.

Do atleast 10 CSS projects from frontendmentor.io

Do 10 simple JavaScript DOM projects.

Do 10 simple ReactJS Projects.

Do 5 complex clone projects, which are a rage now on YouTube.

August 02, 2021 React class components or functional hook component?
In this third episode, we will discuss about the two type of components in ReactJS - Class components and Functional component and what should we use.
- React class based components were since 2013 and was superior to functional component.

- Functional components were called dumb components, because they were used just for presentational purpose

- Functional components were lacking two important features of class based components ie state and lifecycle methods.

- Class based components created more problems because of the over complicated this keywords and complex lifecycle methods.

- Functional components are more easier to understand, because of the lack of this of javascript.

- The hook useEffect replaces most Lifecycle method and is extremely easy to use.

- If you or your company is starting a new project, go with hook based functional component, as most third party popular modules like react-router have hook counterpart and slowly moving toward hook.

- If you are in a 2-3 year old project then have to work with classes, so it's a must have knowledge.

In this second episode, we are going to discuss the top three framework/languages which rules the world now.

- React is the king when it comes to work. It is been used in all types of companies- Startup, Service and product.

- Angular started it all, but because of a silly mistake of incompatible version lost the market.

- The learning curve of Angular is also more then React, and it is a complete framework instead of a library.

- Some old products in Angular and still the darling of service companies which work in these old projects. So, you will find a lot of jobs in traditional large service companies like Infosys, TCS.

- All new projects starting in ReactJS and some in VueJS, but Vue is way behind React in term of adaptability by the industry.

- ReactJS is also the darling of the growing starup ecosystem in India, which almost every startup using it.

- Startups also need mobile apps and here React Native comes into picture

- The ecosystem of React have become very good in the past 6 years, with almost every issue on stackoverflow.

Yes coding do gives you superpowers, but only if you do it the monk way.

You have to practice daily and sharpen your skills and there is no shortcuts.

You need to know what is the current trend in the market and work towards learning it.

From 2010 the age of web-apps have started and it will be there for the next 10 years.

Out of it React is the king and most of the demand will be in it.

So, start with HTML, CSS, JS and then ReactJS.

Don't go after other frameworks like VueJS or Angular

Don't go after other shiny objects like AI and ML as their is no demand.
