September 21, 2022Don't have a laptop to learn coding
One of my online student attended the whole bootcamp without a laptop. I came to know after the bootcamp.

He told me that he got a 15K job in a metro and somehow managed the fees of the course. Now he saved the money and purchased a laptop.

He didn't understand much as didn't practiced, so i gave him access to my next bootcamp for free.

Now, a lot of us have heard the stories of people in Africa coding on mobile, but it is true sometimes in India also.

A lot of people have passion to learn coding, but laptop becomes the first hurdle. You need atleast a 25000 laptop in India for coding and it's a lot of money for a person earning 15K.

Code on platforms like jsbin from HTML, CSS and JS Projects. And Stackblitz for ReactJS projects.

September 14, 2022Government cities turning into ruins
India was and still to some extend a socialist economy. After independence almost, every Industry was taken by Government.

In the book about Tata, the decades after independence a lot of Tata companies like Air India, New India assurance were taken by governments.

In early 90s India started to moving towards Capitalist economy, with Govt selling stakes in all loss making public companies.

In the past 30 years a lot of small, medium and large Govt companies we shut down and employees given VRS.

My father used to work for a PSU called BHEL and i grew up in Government Quarters. These quarters were common in so many cities.

But once the 5th pay commission was applied and Govt employees started earning a lot, slowly everyone constructed their own houses. These colonies were abandoned and now are completely ruined. There are only walls remaining, door and windows taken away by robbers.

Plus most big govt companies like BHEL now have only 20% of employees, with rest been done by other private factories. So, now those extra quarters are not required and whole colonies are abandoned. When i go back to my old colony, it feels like a Ghost town.

Now, what government is doing is completely right, as they cannot sustain loss making Government units for long. And in the next decade a lot of transition will be over.

It started with TATAs getting back their baby(Air India). So, the common people have to understand that government jobs will shrink and lot more private jobs will be created.

But private jobs are paid on skills and trends. You have to have the correct skill and know the trend. These skill can give you a 50 lakh per annum SDE job or can make you an entrepreneur like Ishan Sharma earning the same amount. Or else you will stuck in a 15K low paying private job.

Lot of people in Tier 2 cities get's comfortable at 15K Salary. Some of them don't know the options.

Other are comfortable because their Dad got a big retirement Govt package.

A lot of my known people have got a big Retirement package(upto 1 cr) and their children do meaning less 15K jobs.

I see a lot of so called lower-middle class people like house-maids, carpenter and electrician earning 4 times then that.

These people have to get out of their comfort zones and see the new age skills, which don't even require a degree.

Learn web-app development, mobile development, digital marketing, video editing and you can earn that much in 1 day.

A lot of students ask me what to learn beyond React. Actually React is more then enough to get a job.

But if you add TypeScript, NextJS and GraphQL to it you will get a higher package or even a senior role.

Now, most companies wants an stable product and also want to use the cutting edge tech in React ecosystem.

All these three tech were released some time back and made it into a lot of production sites.

The benefit of TypeScript is that it catches error even before you save in VS Code.

It seems to be more work, but helps a lot in saving precious debugging time in a React project.

It is been used in a lot of companies and the scratch projects or the projects been changed to React, uses it in most companies.

NextJS is an interesting tech which bring Server Side Rendering to React. The code is mostly same as it's a ReactJS framework.

But it brings Image optimization, SEO into React and finally the code runs on server and not on client browser like React.

Now, this saves those micro seconds and also beneficial for Web-apps which are becoming big. Again all companies love this tech.

Now GraphQL is a specification which challenges the REST specification. It is mainly the way we write backend code.

We need to write frontend code also because it is a different way to interact with graphql endpoint.

The benefit been the load, as from client we can only ask for a subset of data and get it. It is not possible in REST, where we have to change the backend code for the same.

Once a trainer asked me how do i do it full time, because he was doing training on a part-time basis. His worry was that he will loose touch with coding if he become full time trainer.

As like most of passionate coders, i also used to breath code when i was a Architect. But after becoming full time trainer, i still code.

The thing which changed is that i don't do any production code now. But i am fortunate to get the best corporate trainings which keeps me on my toes.

Two month back i was asked to take corporate training on TypeScript, NextJS and GraphQL. I knew all these but needed to make detailed notes and more projects.

I learned a lot creating these notes and guess what ended up with two books - TypeScript and GraphQL.

So, will release my next two books along with detailed video courses in this year.

Will release the TypeScript book and video course next month.

Learning is not stopping for me, as will release NextJS book also after that.

Also will create courses on VueJS, Angular with .NET/SQL as they are used a lot in the industry.

A HR contacted me some days back and told that they have trained 150 people in Data Science and can i refer them. Since i am not into Data Science, so told her no.

Two of my American students are doing MS in data science, but even in the US the data science jobs are very little.

Few years back, i had given an interview in a small product based company. That time Data Science was even more hyped. So, i asked the manager, whether they use Data Science in their product. He said that they tried but it was not giving correct results, because they didn't have a large dataset. So, they dropped it.

These things happen because a very few companies have that kind of data to predict something successfully. In US, i companies like Google, Facebook and other giants. In India, its flipkart, Cred and other unicorns.

With web-app development that is not the case. If you are even a 2 people startup, your product will be developed in ReactJS. From 2 person startups to all FAANG(except Google) and every company in between uses ReactJS to develop web-apps. Some companies uses Angular only and some Vue.

But with ReactJS knowledge you can apply to the crores of jobs which are available.

And with web-3 coming, more traditional jobs will move to the virtual world. It means more developers will be required and more startups will be formed. In web3 also the frontend is made in ReactJS and backend is replaced by smart contracts and other things.

Why we Indian choose most difficult path, with little success percent?
In my hometown of Bhopal kids start preparing for IIT from class 9th(some even earlier). They live a totally stressed out 4 years and most of them even don't made it to IIT. There are 22 lakhs kids like these in India every year and many of them go to Kota factory.

The students who cannot get into IITs due to only 16234 seats, takes admission in some Tier-3 college. Now, here most of them are taught theoretical coding and are not able to get a job. Some of them move to Bangalore(like me) to get a job and after some struggle gets the job.

But a lot of them cannot leave their hometown for one reason or other. They are convinced by their parent to prepare for Government exams. Most of these students waste their 6-8 years preparing for State PSU, UPSC and other exams. Most of them never make it and are stuck in life.

The people who gets jobs in some IT companies are lured towards FAANG dream and looses their sleep for that 50 lakh packages. Again a handful of jobs and lot of people.

We Indians are always running after money or civil service power and this is causing a lot of stress. It is wasting important years of Youth(read govt jobs) or causing a lot of stress.

It's better to skill yourself and do job or business in which you can earn while serving people. Like learn web-app development and get a awesome job in a startup. Slowly upgrade yourself and the FAANG jobs or even better a good product company will always be there.

If you are not interested in coding then learn the next two hottest skills ie Digital marketing or Video editing. Both of these guarantees employment or freelancing and entrepreneurship.

Coding is here to stay and with web-3 coming, more traditional jobs will move to the virtual world. And it means more developers will be required and more startups will be formed.

June 01, 2022Earning 15K or 1 lakh per month is a choice.
Earning 15K per month or 1 lakh per month is a choice now. There are both kind of jobs in the economy now.
If the person is doing a job in which he/she don't have to do the brain they will earn that much only. These jobs are total routine job with no excitement also. These are the accountant jobs, receptionist job, Broadband service job, teacher job and many other.

But if you know the trend and do a Software developer, digital marketing, video editing and any of the highly skilled job, you will be paid in Gold.

One of my known is going to retire from Govt Bank job and he believe in the earlier structure of socialism. He said to me that in govt jobs, everyone earns 1 lakh and now this generation everyone is earning 15k.

I agree with him and didn't argue but in today's economy there is no shortage of 1 lakh and beyond jobs. It's only that the people get in their comfort zone, or don't know the path.

They still tell their children to prepare for very less govt jobs, which are left in India and waste 8-10 years of their youth.

April 13, 2022 Career options at 50(After loosing Job)
One of my know person is jobless at the age of 50, after spending 2 decades in Car Sales. He worked for good companies, selling transport car. But since Covid the sales dropped and he became jobless. He is not able to find a equally paying job. Most companies giving fresher 10K job in Tier-2 cities and a bit more in Metros. I was talking to him and suggested to try Digital Marketing and start fresh. Software development might not suite here and he been from Sales background, will help a bit. He also told that he heard about it and will try. Gave his a workshop link of Digital Deepak and told to attend. Also told him that age doesn't matter and he will be happly accepted in any agency or startup. And he can do freelance also. But guess what, he never attended it and going into this downward spiral.
