A twenty-year-old woman has appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court on a charge of human trafficking. She was arrested for trying to sell her own child online for five thousand rand. Meanwhile...Johannesburg will be one of nine cities around the world to host a simultaneous walk to bring awareness to the international issue of human trafficking. The 'Walk For Freedom' follows international Human Trafficking Awareness week which was observed earlier this month and was organised by NGO, A21 Campaign which fights against all forms of human rights violations and the Rhema Bible Church. The National Consumer Commission has launched a preliminary investigation into a number of businesses that the Reserve Bank suspects of being pyramid schemes. The commission says the nine initiatives popular travel club, WorldVentures and Instant Wealth Club are suspected of contravening the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). The department postponed the ANA's from this month to December; however SADTU - and other unions - are threatening to boycott them in December. On Sunday the 13th of September, the late Benedict Daswa will be beatified by the Roman Catholic Church in his home village of Mbahe in Limpopo. Beatification is a process where the church recognises a deceased person's entrance into Heaven, following which they are known as a blessed. Those who are beatifies are believed to have the capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in his or her name.
