“Complacency is death.” (Range Rover Tristan)
~
In any given problem, one must first distinguish whether they are approaching the issue from “above or below the line”.
To approach a situation from Above the Line, one must evaluate whether they are taking accountability, ownership, and responsibility for the factors that are in their control.
“Regardless of the situation - like the building exploded OK! what could you have done to prevent that from happening? Let's forget all of the stuff that you're not actually in control of. That's all below the line which would be blame, excuse, and denial.”
People who have fewer walls can look at situations objectively and are comfortable taking accountability for the inadequate results they’ve received in return.
“As soon as you’re coaching somebody and they’re willing to go yeah 8K in debt because of *XYZ*, I'm out of shape because of *whatever*, I know now we're speaking the same language or having genuine conversation. I'm not getting a front anymore and we can actually move forward [to solve the situation]."
