I LOVE Paddy's Day, but this year has been a little "hectic" - that doesn't mean that we won't find a way to celebrate together (with the help of 'Producer dAvId' - who's gotten a little bit of an upgrade.
What resulted was... well... interesting.
This show is brought to you by listeners just like you. If you like what you hear, you can go to http://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/Support to help it keep growing. It's also brought to you by the incredible folks at Dicks Potato Chips. This local brand GETS IT. If you're a fan of this podcast, I know that you'll be a fan of what they're doing, too. With several flavors already available in local stores, bars, and taprooms, the next time you're out and about don't hesitate to snag yourself a bag to see what I'm talking about. Even better... if you, like me, want to keep your home bar stocked at all times, you can jump on their website (http://www.DicksPotatoChips.com) to order some, and get a box delivered right to your front door. Huge thanks to Dicks for sponsoring this episode!
This week, The Weekly Pint focuses heavily on Bockfest and how you should best experience the three-day festival. With that said... we are NOT drinking bock on the show. Instead, I dove into some peppermint schnapps, cracked open a Dogfish Head beer, and mixed up a little cuvee with beer and a canned cocktail.
It's a great example of why the 'Show That Isn't A Show' is so much fun!
On this episode, we dove into the world of unique spirits, featuring a standout called Nixta Licor de Elote, a corn-based liquor that surprised me with its approachable flavor profile reminiscent of moonshine. I shared my tasting experience, highlighting its sweet and earthy notes, and how it could be a fun addition to any home bar.
The main event of the night was an experiment with AI as my virtual bartender. I tasked ChatGPT with creating a cocktail using a variety of spirits from my collection. The result was the "Appalachian Alchemist," a complex drink that combined smoky mezcal, nutty rum, and herbal schnapps, among other ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it balanced, proving that AI can indeed contribute to the cocktail-making process, even if it can't replace the artistry of a skilled bartender. We wrapped up with a discussion on the potential of AI in the drinking scene, exploring how it could assist novice bartenders in crafting unique cocktails with the ingredients they have on hand.
As it turns out, we figured out that robots might not be evil.
I don't know why I'm doing this to myself... but tonight's drink is something... special. I'm diving into a big old can of something called Too Turnt, Daddy... It's going to be interesting!
We'll talk about some of the recent problems with distribution, about the dangers of coffee, and of course we'll hang out together!
I HATE when a place closes. I suppose that we had some advance warning that this was a possibility, but it still hurts the soul a little bit. Time for some drink related healing.
On this week's episode, we drink some Becherovka... and I had no idea what to expect when I cracked the bottle (as it turns out, it's delicious) - I also drank a can of West Side Brewing's Italian Style Pilsner.
We check out some label approvals... try not to be too sad about Humble Monk... its a great example of why The Weekly Pint is a ton of fun!
This is a wild one... New Ales up in Middletown, Ohio, made a mustard lager - and thanks to some friends - that's what we're going to drink on tonight's episode (after some... sorta schnapps) - it's all good to kick off the show where we talk about some Superbowl commercials of the past!
This show is brought to you (sort of) by the incredible Dicks Potato Chips. If you want to see what all the fuss is about (and eat a bag for yourself) make sure you hit up http://www.DicksPotatoChips.com and order up a whole box to stock your own home bar!
On this week's episode, we'll roll through some new label approvals, while we drink a couple beers from Swine City Brewing in Fairfield, Ohio.
The make some weird stuff, so there's no telling how this one will go!
Holy smokes... I've known about this spot for a long time, and even tried a few of their products - but have never actually bellied up to see what it's all about for myself. We'll talk about it, try some fun wine, and maybe even rant about some local beer stores that might not deserve my beer money anymore.
If you're new to The Weekly Pint - this isn't just a podcast, it's a live show - a happy hour - and an excuse for us to drink together. If you want to participate PROPERLY, you should tune in on either Facebook or YouTube every Monday night around 9:30pm!
If you like what I do - make sure you visit www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/Support and become a 'Gnomie'!
After a couple of rough weeks with some faulty technology in my house... we're back at it full force with a strange bottle of booze and a whole bunch of new beer labels to check out. Make sure you tune into the show live, every Monday night around 9:30pm!
New Year's is fast approaching, and while I don't really make resolutions, it sort of seems appropriate. We talk about success, we talk about new taprooms, and we drink a little schnapps a bit of beer to wash it down.
