Just before midnight on May 24, 2000, seven Wendy’s employees were called to the basement of their Queens, New York restaurant for what they believed was an end of shift meeting. Instead, they were ambushed, bound with duct tape, suffocated with plastic bags, and each was shot at close range. The attack was the result of a carefully planned robbery led by a former coworker who knew their names, their routines, and exactly how to access the safe. By the time police arrived, five employees were dead, two were barely alive, and New York City was left stunned by one of the most calculated and cold-blooded mass killings in its history.
