In this old Japanese folktale, a white hare decides he wants to leave his island and cross the sea to the mainland, and so he tricks a group of crocodiles into forming a bridge for him. But when they discover his deceit, they become very angry and punish him. Luckily, the white hare then meets a gentle and kind-hearted man who looks after him and also encourages him to mend his deceitful ways.
