On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins as we start by gearing up for the NHL Draft on Friday. We talk about the need to draft best player available, as opposed to drafting for specific needs. We look at the areas the Wild should target depending on the board and how it plays out, such as defense and goaltending. We move to what looks like an inevitable hiring at this point with Jack Capuano rumored to be taking Darby Hendrickson's assistant coaching spot on John Hynes' staff. We look at the numbers defensively and on the Penalty Kill for Ottawa over the last few years with Capuano on the staff, and why this seems like an uninspiring move made by Bill Guerin and John Hynes. We finish by discussing Game 7 tonight between Edmonton and Florida, and how the Oilers have pushed Florida to the brink with a combination of stars carrying the load, role players stepping up, and a dominant Penalty Kill (wouldn't it be nice if the Wild took some notes here?).
