Welcome to this very special episode of the Witchcast., beautiful soul! In the sonic sacred circle this one-off episode features magickal friends reconnecting, reminiscing, and roaring with laughter. Lucy Cavendish and Fiona Horne have known each other since the VERY early 90s – and in this episode the Witchcast celebrates the release of Seawitch’s new album, Well of Spells, a melodic, hardcore celebration drawn straight out of Fiona’s Book of Shadows.
Fiona chats with Lucy about the new album, lyrics, songs as spells, hilarious memories, love stories, trauma and bonding, mutual moments of fandom and generating energy, exchanging energy, and being pure energy.
It's a funny, loose, off-the-script conversation between two long-time friends and witches, and it will have you cackling this Beltane and Samhain.
Songs featured from Well of Spells include:
All are from Seawitch’s first album, Well of Spells, released October 21, 2022 – make it a part of the soundtrack to your life and feel your energy lift off!

They’ve been made fun of, laughed at, scorned and ignored - but the elementals of the great beneath shape the minerals, infuse our food with earthy, wholesome energy, tend and care for the wounded animals, and help we humans find our way to more healthy and prosperous lives. That is, if we stop treated them less seriously than they deserve.
Who is Lucy exploring in this episode of the Witchcast? It is none other than the much-maligned Gnomes, the wise Kings and Queens, the Elders of the deep earth, whose healing powers and ancient knowledge is needed now as we move into times of transition for Mother Earth. Lucy then shares news of historic and haunted pubs, where you can drink spirits along with, ahem, the spirits, and gets excited about the British Museum’s wondrous new exhibition celebrating the Famine Divine, in Her myriad manifestations throughout time and culture.
Lucy also unpacks curious listener's magickal questions, offers insightful advice, and ventures into the ways in which pop culture events are embracing the mythic and the occult. Featuring Pagan songs by artists as diverse as Wendy Rule, Suzanne Vega along with Eric Burdon and War, this is a beguiling episode that takes a very fresh look at beings both fabled and fabulous.
Welcome to the sonic sacred circle, Witches! Blessed Be!
Songs: Wendy Rule: Artemis
Suzanne Vega: Predictions
Eric Burdon and War: Spill the Wine

As the Wheel turns, the maiden awakens, bone mother begins to lose her hold, and the land approaches her rebirth. Light up your candles, let down your hair, and dance in the green, Witches! In the southern hemisphere the sweet, fresh, newborn energy of Bride is arising, and as she slowly rises from her winter slumber, the land begins to shimmer and stir with new life. If you’re interested in the myths, history and legends of this time, join Lucy for spells, rituals, traditions connected to this sacred point on the Wheel of the Year. Lucy offers practical magickal tips on making the most of the energy, connecting with the Goddess in her Maiden form, the origins of the word Virgin and how it relates to this season, and the inevitable presence of the divine feminine through the rebirth of Spring. So many blessings, so many candles lit for your Imbolc, beautiful souls!

Blessings and welcome to you all, beautiful souls. In this episode of the Witchcast, Lucy watches (through tears) Agora, a film about Hypatia of Alexandria, a legendary Pagan (or was she?) scholar and teacher accused of Witchcraft, murdered by Christians in ancient Alexandria. Called by some the first Pagan martyr, the Witchcast explores Hypatia's brilliance, her neo-Platonic philosophy, her discoveries, and the catastrophic rift between pagans - or polytheists - and Christians in the late Roman Empire. Lucy analyses the film’s depiction of this remarkable woman, searching for truths about the Alexandrian age, the dreadful loss of the knowledge within that city's famed Library, and how one bad bishop can change the course of western history. Then, well. You can see there is a huge rediscovery of Kate Bush taking place at the moment. Babushka tik-toks, Withering Heights dance days and the revival of Running Up That Hill - or a Deal with God, thanks to Stranger Things. But did you know that one of Kate Bush’s songs is Magick in practice? Lucy shares a unique song from Kate Bush that is actually a true invocation of four Archangels that you can play to protect and shield yourself. Kate had an enduring relationship with a spiritual healer, whose crone-like wisdom and voice appears throughout her album, the Red Shoes. We move then to Lucy offering readings for listeners, with some very tricky questions answered by the cards, PLUS a reading for YOU. All this, and gorgeous pagan music - this is a powerful episode.
Thankyou to Shayne, to Georgia, and to all the supportive and generous Patreon Family for their ongoing support, which is immensely appreciated.

One man stands perfectly still upon the stage, filling the theatre with a sense of the profound, the past, the deeply sacred. There is no banter, no breaking the ambiance of ceremonial space alongside brother and sisters band members, all still and sombre as ancient stones. From them, something pure - the songs of the world - pours out. He creates music with the atmosphere, bones and birch groves and rivers. He plays traditional instruments that are the same our ancestors called up the Gods with. He sings of a deeper, wilder, truer part of ourselves, of runes and sacred places, of forests and resting places and the older Gods. His music made the TV show Vikings come to authentic life and his cameo in that show is iconic. After twenty years of playing, Einar Selvik's compositions, along with his band, Wardruna, have finally and justly found world-wide acclaim, which he seems not terribly interested in, because his purpose is creating something raw, old and true, so we can remember who we are. Yes, (a very nervous!) Lucy and Einar Selvik talk of animism, the ritual aspect of a live Wardruna performances, the beauty of longing, black metal, white ravens, white stags and the honesty of presence. Featuring three tracks from First Flight of the White Raven, this is a beautiful, wise, honest sharing from an amazing composer about our humanity, memory, our connection to Nature, creating what is needed, and being true as a performer. Wardruna have just released a new album that was all recorded live, and are touring Europe and The United States. Do everything you can to experience them, starting with this conversation, beautiful Witches.
Thankyou so much to Shayne Brian and Chris Maric for working so hard to set up this interview over and again - we did it!

Blessed be, beautiful souls and welcome to the sonic sacred circle that is the Witchcast. In this episode Lucy explores the impact of Scottish Apology to Witches, and shares the very eerie faery tale of the Reverend Robert Kirk, the preacher who was taken away by the fae. The author of The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Faeries, this reverend has had a profound influence on the relationship between humans and faerie beings. Lucy untangles the twisted history of his abduction and legend, and why both had such a profound impact on Witches and elementals alike. Then we move to song! Your voice is one of your most sacred and powerful magickal tools you could have, Witch - yet throughout history, women’s voices have often been forbidden, encapsulated perfectly by the demonisation of the mermaid and her song. Lucy offers ways to reconnect with your own powerful Witch voice, and sing once again the song of your soul. In between there is a lot of gorgeous pagan music, little moments of magick and whimsy, and most of all a warm and accepting magickal circle for you to share!
With thanks to the most excellent producer, Shayne Brian, to Nordic Daughter for the use of We Are One, to Georgia for beautiful visuals, and to all of the ever evolving Patreon family whose support helps keep the Witchcast on her broomstick and flying high!

Welcome to Valhohl! Well, maybe not right now, but the Northman may be as close as we can get to re-experiencing a past life in pagan times. In this episode of the sonic sacred circle, Lucy drives far far away to see the Northman, and come back kind of overwhelmed with beauty, brutality, and time travel to a truthful, raw, awe-inspiring Pagan past. She shares some of the powers and attributes of the deities and stunningly accurate rituals featured within the epic film by the amazing Robert Eggers. Explore Freyr, Hel and the Norns with Lucy, and discover primal forms of Witchcraft and Magick from Viking history, including Seidr, and unearth the energies of the Valkyries.
Find out the witchy truths behind Friday the 13th, and why it’s a wonderful day for Witchy people! Then we visit the Shining Ones, as we detour into the land of Faerie, to listen in to three moving readings with the Wild Wisdom of the Faery deck - on curses, dream teachings, and decoding symbolism in visions. This episode is such an exciting and stirring adventure, featuring glorious magickal music from Skald, Nordic Daughter and Wardruna.
With thanks to Shayne, for brilliant production, Georgia, for gorgeous imagery, and Lucy’s Patreon family for their stellar support of The Witchcast.
