In today's episode, Liam interviews Nádia Gomes!

Nádia is a forward for the Chicago Stars and the Portugal National team. As a young player, Nádia represented her country at the U-19 youth level, as an instrumental player for the team, including at the 2014 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship. Nádia played for BYU in college, scoring 23 goals over her collegiate career, leading her to win WCC player of the year in 2015. Nádia was drafted in the 2018 NWSL Draft, after being named to the Hermann Trophy watchlist her junior year. As a professional, Nádia has represented the Porteguese senior side, including at the Nations League and the Algarve Cup. She returned to the national team after a 5-year hiatus from the game, due to her incredible performances with the San Francisco Glens in the USL W-League, where she totalled 27 goal contributions in 15 matches and won USL National Player of the Year. In 2024, she signed her first pro contract with the Chicago Stars and has since appeared in 15 matches.

In this episode, we chatted about her time with the Red Stars, her 5-year hiatus from professional soccer, what it means to represent Portugal internationally, and her move from Portugal to Utah at just 10 years old.

In this episode, LDG Interviews Kaela Hansen! Kaela is a defender for AFC Toronto, one of the six clubs in the inaugural season of the Northern Super League, Canada’s first-ever women’s professional soccer league. A young player from Burnaby, British Columbia, Kaela played with the Canadian youth national teams at the U-17 and U-20 levels, including at the 2016 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Cameroon. After her time with the Kansas Jayhawks, where she played the most minutes and games in program history while studying Sports Management with a minor in business, Kaela pursued a professional soccer career with stints in Serbia and Finland. She joined the Toronto side as one of their first players signed in December of 2024 and is now a key part of the current league leaders' backline.

We chatted about her time with AFC Toronto so far, the importance of having a domestic professional women's soccer league in your country, her time playing on the Canadian youth national teams with players who are now senior team regulars, and much more!

Before joining the Dash, she played her college soccer at Duke with her sister Delaney, winning the ACC Midfielder of the Year Award in 2024, while being named to the first All-ACC and All-American teams. Maggie has experience with the USWNT youth teams at the U-16 and U-18 levels, scoring during her time with these sides.

In this incredible episode, LDG interviews San Diego Wave and USWNT U-23 Fullback, Quincy McMahon! Quincy has experience with the USWNT youth teams, ranging from U-18 to U-23. Quincy was a member of the First-team All-Pac-12 in 2022 and 2023. Quincy is a versatile fullback who can play on both flanks or even up the pitch in the winger role, as seen at UCLA. She led her UCLA team in assists, collecting 26 over her collegiate career.

In her second season in the National Women’s Soccer League, Makenna has played an instrumental role with the Spirit, as her versatility and ability to deliver complete performances on both sides of the ball have been notable. Makenna was a first-round draft pick in the last-ever NWSL draft, and she helped the Spirit make the NWSL Final last season with her epic assist in stoppage time in the semifinals.

He covers the signing of the Icelandic superstar Sveindis Jonsdottir to Angel City FC. He talks about her fit with the club, what this move means for the NWSL as a whole, and why Svendis will reignite an Angel City team that has had ups and downs this season.

He also examines the shocking announcement of Jonathon Giraldez's exit from the Washington Spirit just 10 months after his arrival, to a club also owned by Michelle Kang. He acknowledges why this decision undermines the NWSL, and why it is bad press for the league (on top of other PR disasters he covers.) He also talks about what this means for the club going forward, with coaching instability being a saddening trend for the Spirit.

Lastly, he talks USWNT U-23 Camp, covering everything from the roster selected, the inconsistent history of the existence of the program, and subsequently the prior generations lost due to this.
