Psalm 82 comforts Israel in a time of distress by reminding them that God is ruling and judging all the judges of the earth, and that he will come in judgment and inherit all the nations.

In this sermon we look at the inability of man to save himself in his fallen state, most clearly represented by the biblical claim that "we are dead in our sins and trespasses." The key to this doctrine is that it is NOT how God created us, but is rather the wretched fruit of our fall into sin.

In Psalm 81 we see that we gather for worship at God's explicit command, and that this command is tied to his redemptive work of deliverance. Furthermore, we do so primarily that we may hear the word of Lord for us, that word of comfort, that he wishes to feed us with the finest wheat and satisfy us with honey from the rock.
