The Workers Circle's CEO Ann Toback tells the story of Eastern European Jews in the nineteenth century who emigrated to the U.S. to escape persecution, only to find persecution of African Americans, women and laborers in America, too. Inevitably, they joined in solidarity with the suffrage, civil rights and labor movements and are directly involved in the ongoing work to preserve and expand voting rights.
