  • Concerns SA to recieve a fraction of Commonwealth shipbuilding spend
In South Australia a state government defence agency is raising concerns that the state will receive only a fraction of the Federal Government's planned investment in the next fleet of submarines and naval ships. There's been no claim of responsibility, but Russia has been threatened frequently by Islamic State and Chechan-based groups. Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs says there are no indications of Australians being affected.

Observers say there appears to be a reduction in the amount of firepower coalition warplanes have dropped on Mosul since an incident last month in which up to 200 Iraqi civilians were reported to have been killed in airstrikes.

That's the warning from China analyst, Howard French, who says the United States and its allies have only a very small window of between 5 and 10 years to avert this. And he says it is critical that we understand how an ancient Chinese worldview drives the current Chinese leaders.
