  • British historians mount bid to find surviving Australian WWII Bomber Command veterans
In a race against time, British war historians are trying to contact as many Australian veterans from World War Two who flew with Bomber Command in Britain. Archivists at the new International Bomber Command Centre in the UK want the airmen and women who flew in 460 squadron over Europe in the 1940s to tell their stories, and share their log books, with a team of researchers. The surviving pilots, aircrew and ground staff are now in their 90s, but they're striving to record the days when 55,000 Commonwealth aircrew lost their lives to help defeat the German war machine.

Financial markets will judge Donald Trump on key White House appointments rather than his rhetoric during the presidential election campaign, says Stephanie Flanders chief market strategist at JP Morgan Asset Management. Responding to claims that markets and pundits got their predictions wrong, Ms Flanders told The World Today that no one should have bet their house on a Hillary Clinton victory.
