In the first installment of the "Ladies of Horror" special celebrating Women's History Month, I talk with WorldFilmGeek Hall of Famer Reine Swart. Hailed as one of the top local actors from South Africa, Reine is now based in Texas, where she continues her prolific career. Her breakout horror film is "The Lullaby" in the role of Chloe Van Heerden, a new mother whose post partum depression leads her to a world of chaos. Since then, Swart has appeared on the TV series "Z Nation" as well as the horror-comedy "Triggered". In 2020, her writing and directorial debut came with the film "The Hex". We talk about her horror films, horror films in general, and a bit about some of the highlights of her career.

Do you like American films with Hong Kong style action choreography? Before "The Matrix" (1999) and after "No Retreat, No Surrender" (1986) and its two sequels, Hong Kong producers William Yuen and Sally Aw ("Iron Angels") attemped an American film with HK-style action. The end result is "College Kickboxers", which stars Ken Rendell Johnson (aka Ken McLeod) and Hong Kong actor/stuntman Tang Tak-Wing. Cocky boy learns kung fu, becomes better man, and fights racism via a tournament. Need I say more? I break the film down, give some trivia, and explain why this film is one that needs more love. 

You think "I Love You Man" is the best example of the "bromance" subgenre of comedy? Then you're missing out on one of the early examples. I talk about "Spring Break", Sean S. Cunningham's 1983 film about two Midwesterners who form a "bromance" with two Brooklyn guys after a mix-up in their hotel force them to room together as they enjoy the fun and madness of Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I break the film down, give some trivial tidbits, and tell you why this movie is one that definitely needs more love. 

In the latest episode of "Movies That Need More Love", I talk about Corey Yuen's Karate Kid-inspired "No Retreat, No Surrender" (1986). The film stars Kurt McKinney as Jason Stillwell, an avid Bruce Lee fan who gets lessons from his idol's ghost and finds himself standing up a crime syndicate's number one fighter, a Russian named Ivan, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in his first major role. I break the film down, give little trivia tidbits, briefly talk about the two sequels, and more. 

In the latest installment of Movies That Need More Love, I talk about the 1986 film "Rad", starring Bill Allen, Lori Loughlin, Bart Conner, Chad and Carey Hayes (the creators of "The Conjuring") and veterans Talia Shire, Ray Walston, and Jack Weston. Directed by the great Hal Needham, this is the ultimate BMX movies of 1980s and only part of 1986, a banner year for underrated and B-movies galore.

But it is, in Vittorio Rambaldi's 1988 underrated horror film starring Patrick Lowe ("Slumber Party Massacre II"), Cheryl Arutt ("The Perfect Bride"), and Sarah Buxton ("Nightmare Beach").
