In the season 1 finale of the WorldFilmGeek Podcast, I talk about the 1986 Troma cult classic "Class of Nuke 'Em High". The story of Tromaville High School and its student affected by the fact that it's located only a quarter of a mile from the nuclear power plant is a film that can be considered a follow-up to "The Toxic Avenger" with its connections between the two in the forms of Tromaville, nuclear waste and its effects, as well as cast members from the 1984 hit appearing in this film. Merry Christmas everyone!!! In the latest installment of "Movies That Need More Love", I talk about American Kickboxer 1 (1991)...yes that is the actual title. The film stars John Barrett as BJ Quinn, a former champion on the road to redemption after serving a year sentence the accidental death of a man and finds himself as a crossroads with an old rival. I break the film down, give some trivia tidbits along the way, and then tell you why this movie needs more love. 

In the second installment of "Movies That Need More Love", I talk about the soccer drama "Hotshot" starring Jim Youngs ("Footloose") and the soccer icon Pele. The story of an arrogant soccer player who goes to Brazil to meet his idol is a story about a change in attitude for the young "star" and his mentor, a chance to re-live his glory days as one of the greatest to ever play the sport. Directed by Rick King ("Kickboxer III: The Art of War"), I break the film down and tell why this is a movie that needs more love. 

On this episode of the WorldFilmGeek podcast, I talk with Italian filmmaker Christian Bachini about his short film "Escalation", which is playing in film festivals throughout the United States. Having seen the film at Spooky Empire in October, this is a horror film fan's dream short. It has it all: isolation, body horror, stuntwork galore, and gory fun! Bachini used his love of horror as well as his experience as a martial arts stuntman in China to bring the terror and physicality to the film. Bachini also talks about plans to turn his short into a feature film and we discuss that as well.

In the first of what will be a weekly thing, I will be discussing films that need more love. On this episode, I talk about 18 Again (1988), one of the last film appearances by the legendary comic George Burns. In this film, it becomes a new Freaky Friday shtick with an 81-year old businessman trading bodies with his 18-year old grandson. I explain why the film needs to be seen while breaking down the film. There are some minor spoilers, but you get the bit. 

In the penultimate episode of the first season of the WorldFilmGeek Podcast, I speak to former Canadian LGBTQ actor turned filmmaker Denis Theriault. After a fifteen-year career as an actor, Theriault started his work behind the cameras and broke ground with the 2014 short film "I am Syd Stone", which turned into a 2020 six-episode web series about an actor whose comeback and personal life is in jeopardy when he struggles with his identity while having an affair with another man. The series has been condensed into a 90-minute film, which debuts on December 6 from Dark Star Pictures. 

On the latest episode of the WorldFilmGeek Podcast, I chat with actress, stand up comic, and teacher Michele Traina, who talks about the pilot for her new series, "The Divorce Diaries". Based on Traina's life as a divorced mother of a child with special needs, the one-woman show turned upcoming series revolves around Traina's attempt to juggle her love of stand up, parenthood, and dating. As she says it best, it's about "raising a child with special needs and dating men with special needs". We get quite a few laughs with this episode!

On the latest episode of the WorldFilmGeek Podcast, I talk with "Slumber Party Massacre" co-stars Michael Lawrence Potter ("John") and Rob Van Vuuren ("Russ Thorn", the Driller Killer) about making the film, working with the cast, director Danishka Esterhazy and her dedication to the film and its paying homage to the original, and even delved a bit about the original franchise and the South African film industry. 

On this third episode of the podcast, I talk with Cameron Scott, a South African actor and filmmaker best known for his role in 2020's "Triggered". His latest project, "Ring of Beasts", made its debut on July 4 at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. We talk about Ring of Beasts, Triggered, his upcoming role in Netflix's "The Kissing Booth 3", why we both love movies, and even give each other some film recommendations along the way. Since his debut as the villainous Malachi in 1984's "Children of the Corn", Gains has shown an amazing versatility of film roles. He's played bullies ("Back to the Future"), nerds ("Can't Buy Me Love"), and gangbangers ("Colors"). In addition to his film career, he is also a successful musician with his band, Ripple Street. In this second episode of the podcast, I talk to Courtney about the highlights of his career, his latest works, what's next, and he gives some insightful advice of what to do if you want to pursue an acting career.
