After two of Zhishengs friends helped him escape the Chinese authorities captured and tortured both of them cruelly blinding one of them

Trump was welcomed warmly and praised President Jinping No mention though of Chinas persecution of Christians

Worldwide Orthodox Christian Population More Than Doubles in Past Century

Over the last century the Orthodox Christian population around the world has more than doubled but has only decreased as a percentage of the Christian population worldwide from 20 percent in 1910 to 12 percent in 2010 according to Pew Research

Meanwhile Protestants and Catholics have grown in percentage And while Orthodox Christians are still located primarily in Europe 77 percent currently Protestants and Catholics have expanded enormously beyond the continent

Commemorating 500 Years of Reformation

Five hundred years ago today Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Wittenberg Chapel door in Germany lighting a reformation fire that would impact the whole world There are 900 million Protestants in the world making up about 40 of the population of persons who call themselves Christian

Ray Van Neste Professor of Biblical Studies at Union University calls the Reformation the greatest revival since the first Pentecost

Typically in most of our church settings people know about revival and thats a category for us but church history Not so much Reformation Not so much But I wanted them to see that -- you know when I go into certain places and mention the reformation sometimes people think oh okay so now were into something technical dry and abstract and I wanted them to realize no no no whats going on in the reformation the Gospel is recovered and its preached in new power leading to people getting saved and the Bible going out to more people in really unprecedented ways and therefore people growing in their faith and a lot of other things going on around then and there are some negative things that people do but what is a revival Well its a renewal of the church and a great influx of new believers thats exactly what happened And I think in the most dramatic way that weve seen in history after Pentecost

Praise God for the advancement of His kingdom by these mighty revivals and reformations

South Africa Proposes Bill to Severely Restrict Homeschooling

South Africa proposed a draconian anti-homeschooling bill on October 13th

The bill requires that homeschooled children must be registered at the Department of Education the Head of the Education Department can cancel the registration and there is a 6-year penalty which could be imprisonment if there is non-compliance

Worse yet the South African government is proposing that the curriculum that each homeschooling family uses must be assessed yearly by a government-approved assessor and will likely be assessed by the yardstick of the governments anti-Christian bias

ISIS militants killed at least 116 people over several weeks in the Syrian-Christian town of Al-Qaryatayn reports the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights This came just before Syrian forces recaptured the town from ISIS on Saturday

After the recapture residents of the town found bodies in the streets either shot dead or executed with knives Before civil war broke out in 2011 Al-Qaryatayn had a good Christian population of several hundred Now many churches lie in ruins after the Islamic occupation
