The persecution of Christians is the issue of our time according to David Curry CEO of the persecution watchdog group Open Doors With just under a third of the worlds population identifying with Christianity about 80 percent of persecution is directed at Christians

Speaking at the 3rdArchon International Conference on Religious Freedom Curry said This is the issue I think of our time I say that with confidence because persecution and particularly the persecution of Christians is the tipping point in every major crisis around the world In North Korea in Africa in Iraq and Syriait begins with persecution of Christians

The government of Eritrea has arrested nearly 200 Christians including children since May for praying in their own homes reports Mission Network News This is part of a crackdown on unsanctioned Christian activity within the country

The World Viewspoke to William Stark of International Christian Concern about why the Eritrean government is always trying to increase restrictions on these Christians

Eritrea has this interesting nickname called the North Korea of Africa and thats because it is a socialist dictatorship run under the Afwerki president and the government doesnt allow any other authority that the state government doesnt control Thats why theyre very concerned about people who believe in anything that is a higher power than the state itself

Stark said that the Eritrean church has continued to remain faithful despite much pushback

President Trump Moves US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

Yet for over 20 years every previous American president has exercised the laws waiver refusing to move the US embassy to Jerusalem or to recognize Jerusalem as Israels capital city

Today Jerusalem is the seat of the modern Israeli government It is the home of the Israeli parliament the Knesset as well as the Israeli Supreme Court It is the location of the official residence of the Prime Minister and the President It is the headquarters of many government ministries

Today we finally acknowledge the obvious that Jerusalem is Israels capital This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality Its something that has to be done

That is why consistent with the Jerusalem Embassy Act I am also directing the State Department to begin preparation to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

Six Christians in Indias Jharkhand state were recently released after a month in jail on false charges reports Morning Star News

Hindu extremists in Ghosra village attacked the Christians back in September while they prayed for a sick Hindu woman Officers then beat some of the Christians and imprisoned them for promoting enmity between classes

One of the Christians Dasrath Karketta said We spent one month in jail joyously we sang hymns read the Bible prayed and worshipped together Karketta said other inmates came to Christ as they shared the Gospel in jail
