Oklahoma House lawmakers passed a resolution Monday calling on state officials to recognize the act of aborting an unborn baby as murder the Tulsa World reports

State House Resolution 1004 sponsored by state Rep Chuck Strohm states that the US Supreme Court wrongly decided Roe v Wade and that unborn babies deserve protection under the law

It directs every public official in Oklahoma to exercise their authority to stop murder of unborn children by abortion and state judges not to interfere with the legislatures right to clarify Oklahoma criminal law regarding abortion

The resolution passed in a voice vote Monday and is considered a statement of policy that does not carry the weight of law

Though the Oklahoma resolution does not change the law it is an important reminder to society that unborn babies are valuable human beings who should be protected by the law

President Trump Tells IRS Not to Enforce Johnson Amendment

In his recent Executive Order President Donald Trump has instructed the Internal Revenue Service not to enforce the Johnson Amendment that would prevent pastors from endorsing political candidates from the pulpit

However pastors like Southern Baptist Denny Burk also tweeted I have no interest in endorsing candidates from the pulpit

And Dr Harry Reeder from Briarwood Presbyterian Church says he wants to equip people to not simply know how to vote in one election but how to evaluate voting in any election

President of Southern Evangelical Seminary Speaks on Trumps Religious Liberty Executive Order

Speaking of Trumps Executive Order on Religious Liberty Dr Richard Land President of Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte North Carolina talked to The World View about his reaction to the criticism that Trump has received from some Christian leaders who were concerned that it had gotten watered down from earlier drafts

I understand that there are conservatives who are concerned about President Trumps Executive Order on Religious Freedom because it is not as specific and as strong as some of the earlier drafts I think thats on purpose My understanding is that the Trump administration has learned from its experience with having its executive orders on extreme vetting for people from certain countries overturned by some squirrely judge somewhere

They understood that the ACLU was sitting there waiting to go judge shopping and find a judge who would rule this thing null and void before the ink was even dry So they made it more general language but theyve tasked the Justice Department and the Attorney General to write the regulations that will give those protections that are needed to ensure freedom of conscience and religious freedom

So we will just have to wait and see If they will follow through with the Justice Department it will make it a more difficult target for the ACLU and it will have the same effect as the earlier orders had but it will have a chance to live before its killed at birth by the ACLU and a screwball judge somewhere

Trumps Religious Liberty Executive Order Not as Strong as Was Hoped

President Trump has delivered on his promise for a Religious Liberty Executive Order However the American Family Associations Tim Wildmon pointed out that the executive order is not as strong as the original draft

The earlier draft would have protected Christian ministries and businesses like flower shops and bakeries which deny services to any individual based on sincere religious beliefs Sadly this language was removed from the executive order issued yesterday

The order does exempt some religious groups from providing contraceptives and abortifacients to their employees

The National Review called it a Nothing Burger religious liberty order And representatives from Alliance Defending Freedom said it offers no specific relief to family businesses which do not wish to celebrate homosexual weddings

North Korea said yesterday that the United States decision to fly two supersonic B-1B Lancer bombers in the area in a training drill is a provocation and puts the two countries on the brink of a nuclear war reports Reuters

Radical Hindus Attack Religious Minorities in India

Attacks on religious minorities in the country of India have risen significantly Radical Hindus spurred on by the rise to power of the BJP political party are mobbing people who they accuse of killing and eating cows which are considered holy in the Hindu religion

The World View spoke to William Stark of International Christian Concern who explained the ideological political and geographical reasons behind the increased persecution

Its really coming from all over India Unfortunately something that weve seen as a part of this really big increase of attacks on minorities in the country is that not only are the places where it used to happen are still increasing the attacks now youre seeing these attacks in states like Tamil Nadu where attacks on Christians almost never happen

Stark said that the ideological shift in Indias political scene has also perpetuated more persecution

All these attacks are really being perpetrated by what I call Hindu extremists Theyre people who believe this radical Hindu ideology which essentially they believe that India should be a Hindu nation or a Hindu rostra

Supreme Court Upholds California Ban on Counseling Against Homosexuality

The United States Supreme Court with the recent addition of Justice Neil Gorsuch has spoken out on religious liberties

The Supremes have allowed a California law to stand that would prohibit licensed therapists from discouraging homosexuality among children or the use of conversion therapy

A Wesleyan pastor named Donald Welch had brought the challenge to the California law insisting that the ban interfered with his religious beliefs in his counseling practice The law effectively disallows Bible-believing Christians from participating in state-licensed therapy

Psalm 3722-23 says The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him The Lord will not leave him in his hand nor condemn him when he is judged

California Considers Bill Protecting Islamic Terrorists

Not only has the state of California refused to protect religious rights for Christians but Democrat legislators are now pushing for another bill that will protect religious freedoms for Muslims

According to a World Net Daily article California Senate Bill 31 would effectively protect Islamic terrorists by barring law enforcement and immigration authorities from collecting information regarding religious beliefs of suspected terrorists

New Federal Budget Retains Funding for Planned Parenthood

Afraid that the Democrats might push for a shutdown of the government the Trump administration gave in to a bipartisan agreement on 12 trillion of spending The new agreement retains funding for Planned Parenthood more funding for Obamacare and a host of environmental programs that Trump had threatened to cut

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the compromises were necessary to achieve a 60 vote super-majority in the US Senate

Rev Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition told The World View that he is not happy with President Donald Trump nor the Republican Congress for caving unnecessarily to the Democrats on the sanctity of life

In the new proposed budget by Congress the funding of Planned Parenthood has been included in that proposal This in spite of the fact that when many members of Congress ran in 2016 -- and the president himself the defunding Planned Parenthood was a critical part of what they said

Also and we have to put this in perspective twice in the last session they voted to defund Planned Parenthood Its clearly not only a betrayal of the innocent children but its also a betrayal of the tens of thousands of people who worked countless hours donated millions of dollars dropped off literature because they believed that this was very much a part of it I dont think right now that we can consider this a pro-life Congress if they vote to fund the largest abortion provider in the world

Needless to say Mahoney explained to The World View that fellow pro-life activists are equally upset

Its an utter disappointment It sends the wrong exact message Ive talked to activists and leaders across the country who are deflated who really expected something different from this president to see suddenly the breaking story late last night and then early this morning that they had reached a tentative proposed budget agreement and that Planned Parenthood was still getting the money

Mahoneys only consolation is that the Trump administration was willing to compromise on funding Planned Parenthood for the moment in order to avoid a shutdown of the government in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood later through a new version of the Health Care Act

Christian orphans in North Korea have been tortured for their faith according to human rights activists speaking at a recent event sponsored by the North Korean Freedom Coalition

A Cuban court sentenced Pastor Ramn Rigal to prison for a year and his wife Adya to house arrest for a year because they dared to take their children out of the Cuban public schools to homeschool them

United Methodists Hold Hearing on Lesbian Bishop

The United Methodist Church is holding a hearing this week to address the case of a lesbian Bishop named Karen Oliveto who was elected to a local church this year John Lomperis a delegate to the 2016 United Methodist General Conference spoke to The World View about the United Methodists laws on Biblical marriage

On paper we have clear Biblical policies doctrines on sexual morality We teach that marriage is between one man and one woman And sex is only for within that boundary Thats what all of our clergy has signed up to respect and honor The reality is that we do have certain regions of the US that have been increasingly in open rebellion against this policy
