Persecution in China Increases as the Church Grows

Every day Chinese Christians are increasingly being pressured by the state under constant government surveillance and even threatened with prison for singing Jesus Loves Me The World View talked with Daniel Harris of International Christian Concern who said that China had relaxed a lot of religious control until now

I think that China relaxed a lot of control across the board economically A lot of good came out of that and thats what had to happen economically For the country to grow for trade to happen

Yet Harris said that opposition to Christianity is growing in China for a few reasons

I think they realized that all of a sudden Christianity was exploding Religion was exploding Some people are saying that more of a fourth of the population is pretty religious Its a very overt thing but though its illegal its been allowed to exist And I think China is now realizing that its exploding its getting out of control and that intimidates them

Harris said that this opposition isnt stopping Christs church

Its spreading like wildfire I dont know if it can be stopped at this point

Chinese Human Rights Lawyer Is Denied Meeting with His Lawyers

Since February 27 four weeks after the much-reported torture of Chinese human rights lawyer Xie Yang who has been imprisoned since July 2015 the two family-appointed lawyers of Yang have repeatedly been denied meeting with him reports China Aid

Recently without the familys knowledge or consent a lawyer named He Xiaodian visited Yang in custody at least once apparently at the bidding of the authorities in an attempt to get Yang to appoint lawyers who will cooperate with the government

Yangs wife Chen Guiqiu a professor of environmental science at Hunan University wrote a gutsy letter on April 5th to this Communist attorney which might result in her own prison sentence or worse yet her disappearance

Tennessee Stops Enforcing Abortion Regulations

Tennessees attorney general has announced that the state will cease enforcing two abortion law regulations in response to a lawsuit leveled by abortion mills reports the Christian Post

Tennessee agreed to cease enforcing the regulations that mandated that abortion mills have hospital-admitting privileges and mandated that the facilities have hospital quality surgical standards

The decision was reached partly because of a United States Supreme Court decision last year striking down two similar regulations in the state of Texas

Church Attendance in Scotland Down 45 Percent Since 1984

The Christian Post reports church attendance in Scotland has dropped by about 45 percent since 1984 according to the 2016 Scottish Church Census Of the 390000 churchgoers around 42 percent of them are over 65 years of age

The World View spoke to Scottish-born film producer homeschool father and activist Colin Gunn about the decline of the church in Scotland

The Scottish church has been in decline for a century and a half and we see it at its nexus or its complete evaporation from culture There are so few people who go to church now in Scotland its so noticeable And the number of churchgoers is a tiny percentage of the population So what were looking at is the complete decline of the church over a period of a hundred and fifty years and its very sad thing to see

Gunn said the greatest need of the Scottish Church is to repent but that there is a faithful remnant present there

So what were seeing and what Ive recognized in my own experience beyond these kinds of surveys is that there is a remnant that is faithful and has been faithful Theyre small in number and they need our prayers and they need our support but they are there And what we find is theyre being sanctified which means theyre being more and more faithful Theyre correcting errors of their past and being strengthened as theyre being chastised as theyre country is being chastised over our spiritual apostasy

Three People Killed in Shooting in California

Three people were shot and killed after a man went on a shooting rampage yesterday in Fresno California randomly shooting at four white men killing three before he was taken into custody reports the Fresno Bee

The 39-year-old suspect identified as Kori Ali Muhammad is also suspected in the fatal shooting of a security guard outside a Motel 6 on Blackstone Avenue in central Fresno last Thursday He is facing four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder Muhammad had expressed dislike of whites in Facebook posts all of the victims were white

Muslim Extremists in Egypt Increase Attacks on Christians

After Muslims bombed two churches in Egypt on Palm Sunday killing 49 believers The World View talked to David Curry President of Open Doors USA about the increase of persecution there

In the last several years youve seen a tremendous increase in the violence against Christians Thats partly because of the Muslim Brotherhood and their political history there and what they did to Christians during their rule But also since that regime has fallen and the new presidency and the new revolution has happened in Egypt you see extremist Muslims lashing out at Christians trying to divide the Muslim population there

Curry also urged American Christians to pray for their brothers and sisters in Christ in Egypt and elsewhere when they learn about persecution

I think we really need to be mindful of persecuted Christians because its a biblical mandate In Revelation the Bible says Pray for those people in chains for My name for My sake And thats a universal calling to all believers Now its so difficult when you see these new stories every day a tragedy somewhere but we have to realize Gods called us to do this

North Carolina State House Files Bill to Restore Ban on Homosexual Marriage

A bill filed Tuesday by four North Carolina House Republicans would direct the state government to defy the Obergefell US Supreme Court ruling which legalized homosexual marriage nationwide and restore the North Carolina state constitutions ban on homosexual marriage reports WTVD

House Bill 780 is titled Uphold Historical Marriage Act and is sponsored by some of the Houses most conservative legislators including Republican Rep Larry Pittman of Concord North Carolina

The bill states that the 2015 US Supreme Court ruling that legalized homosexual marriage across the country is null and void in the State of North Carolina Indeed the bill said the ruling exceeds the authority of the court relative to the decree of Almighty God that a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife and they shall become one flesh Genesis 224 and abrogates the clear meaning and understanding of marriage in all societies throughout prior history
