Sometimes love requires the reminder of sacrifice and power. For the pieces that are red for day three I believe demonstrates both of those things while we are in the beginning of Black History Month, we as black and Writer are possess with a unique reality. For as good as we are with our words, and our ability to adapt, the masters town known as the English language, we are aware that not so long ago it was illegal for us to even do that. let these words remind you that love is why we do most of our art, and love reminds us that there is so much yet to be done and farther to go.

Diversity is a buzzword to some and a reality for others. Yet, in the current artistic climate, we do see how multicultural writing has become. To the point White writers feature Black characters in their books…yet the complete personhood is not there. While there is no rule about which writer can create a particular character, of you as a non-Black writer can write Black characters: you can discuss these characters publicly. We kick of Love Month & Black History Month with a work by Chanel Hardy! This work sounds like a conversation, but is a needed one through the voices of two of the most often used tropes in literature: Mammy and Sapphire. Permission to write is both easy and complex. The best thing you can do as a writer is to write the story you want, including parts of your story you want to share! It matters because YOU matter.

Critics are everywhere! They are the cost of being an artist. Critique will be everywhere, this is the price you pay for being brilliant! Commentary is just other people having something to say! Be brave, dear Writer! And create anyway. At the end of the show, you will be more encouraged, and more enlightened to do the work you need to do. The case of Nancy Brophy is wild. I have watched her cross examination on YouTube multiple times. It’s a thing that I keep coming back to you is this did not have to happen. While this is not a true crime podcast, I would be remiss in my duties as a writer, to not speak about the dangers of imagination and greed, and, the total lack of awareness that some writers have in their detriment.
