Hal G. Evarts (1887–1934) was known for writing action-packed stories set in the American West. He was born in California and spent much of his life in the Western states, working in a variety of professions including ranching and hunting. This first-hand experience lent a sense of authenticity to his work, and he was appreciated for his vivid descriptions of the landscape and life in the American West.
