The Brooklyn-based DJs, whose production partnership has resulted in killer dancefloor remixes, join forces live from our NYC studio.

Over the last few years, Justin Cudmore and Mike Servito have forged an exceptional partnership. Brooklyn-based DJs with Midwestern roots and a knack for party-starting, they’re often found on the same lineups in New York and farther afield, and they’ll occasionally share the booth as two-thirds of Hot Mix with Gunnar Haslam. The pair’s work together in the studio has turned heads as well – see Justin Cudmore’s “Crystal (Servito’s 730 Reshape),” one of 2016’s sweatiest and most ubiquitous club tracks, or their destructive “Bass Shift Mix” of Gunnar Haslam’s “Scale No Flam” on the Bunker New York. Cudmore and Servito have more productions and gigs together in 2018, so live from our NYC studio, they’ll kick off what’s sure to be a big year with a back-to-back DJ set.

The prolific producer, known for his heady explorations of acid tracks, joins Bryan Kasenic in NYC for a DJ set and conversation.

Johannes Auvinen, AKA Tin Man, and one-half of the Bunker NY-signed duo Romans, is known in the club world for his Roland-heavy live sets. But anyone who’s ever toured the world with cases of hardware will know they have a way of getting held up in customs, sent back to where they came from or otherwise lost in the shuffle. Auvinen has found that having a flash drive full of tracks – and knowing how to mix them – comes in handy for those times when the checked-baggage gods conspire. The result is that he’s become a cracking DJ who can churn out expansively acidic sets of a piece with the 303 acrobatics he’s known for in the live realm. On this edition of Bryan Kasenic’s biweekly broadcast, Tin Man steps up to the decks, pausing only briefly to discuss his current projects, how he manages to stay prolific in the studio, his proficiency in the kitchen and more.

The Detroit-born, Berlin-based techno killer touches down in our New York studio for another laser-focused DJ mix.

Eric Cloutier is a record collector with a notoriously bad habit. On a light day, he might spend as much time scouring Discogs and obscure record store email blasts as many of us would in an entire month. On a heavy day – well, it’s probably best not to quantify such things. Luckily the Detroit-born DJ and producer has been able to put his vast collection and intricate knowledge of trippy house and techno records to good use at such top-flight gigs as The Labyrinth in Japan, Berghain in Berlin (where he recently played a ten-hour closing set) and, of course, The Bunker in New York, where he’s held a residency for the better part of the last decade. Eric is based in Berlin these days, but on a recent swing through New York, he joined The Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic in our radio studio for an appropriately deep, head-spinning DJ set and discussion of some recent projects: his label Palinoia, his new back-to-back DJ project with London dance music head Jane Fitz and that epic Berghain set, preparations for which consumed his life (and living room) for many months.

The Miami-bred Omnidisc boss brings his deep knowledge of electro and techno to a DJ set live from our NYC studio.

Danny Daze (AKA Daniel Gomez) knows electro, techno and the more experimental side of beat-driven electronic music through and through. The producer and DJ has been steeped in all of that music since his youth in Miami, and though he rose to prominence in international DJ circles on the back of a release for the more pop-oriented Hot Creations label, these dark, tripping sounds are where his heart lies. You can hear that in the records he’s released since, on labels like Kompakt Extra (he’s contributed multiple volumes to their long-running Speicher series), Ultramajic and his own OMNIDISC, which burrow into pitch-black textures and intricate percussion that feel at home on dancefloors deep into the night. He’ll join Bryan Kasenic in our New York studio for a DJ set and conversation touching on his production career and musical influences.

Two of New York’s finest purveyors of boundary-pushing house and techno play live sets from our NYC studio.

This edition of the Bunker’s biweekly broadcast from New York features a pair of live sets from the city’s current crop of Queens-based producers. First up is Jiovanni Nadel, AKA J. Albert, a South Florida native and the Exotic Dance Records cofounder and producer whose windswept take on house and techno has filtered out through labels like 1080p, Opal Tapes and, most recently, Hypercolour. We’ll also welcome Brian Piñeyro: He makes techno as DJ Wey, breakbeat-infused cuts as Deeyjay Xanax, and “deep reggaeton” as DJ Python, and each of his identities has staked out a distinctive musical voice. The two producers are friends and collaborators, so expect great vibes in the studio as Nadel and Piñeyro present their sounds and talk shop with the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic.

Derek Plaslaiko, Patrick Russell and Mike Servito join BMG, Erika and Amber Gillen in NYC to celebrate the beloved, infamous Detroit rave.

A certain kind of music fan will mark the date on their calendar at least a year in advance and travel a far distance just to attend — No Way Back is an event. But anyone who’s been to No Way Back, which the Interdimensional Transmissions crew first staged in a crumbling building in Detroit a decade ago, will tell you that first and foremost, it’s a party. Conceived as a celebration of the “lost art” of Midwest raving at its most adventurous and psychedelic, it always happens on the Sunday night before Memorial Day during Movement festival, and features approximately the same tight-knit lineup of Detroit OGs, set up under billowing parachute tarps to a crowd that’s up for whatever musical insanity gets thrown their way. The party now touches down in a few other cities each year, including a New York edition presented by the Bunker, which shares with it a number of residents and hardcore fans. Ahead of this year’s New York party and in honor of its tenth year, Bryan Kasenic welcomes residents Derek Plaslaiko, Patrick Russell and Mike Servito, along with Interdimensional Transmissions’ BMG, Erika and Amber Gillen, to play some No Way Back influences and favorites, live from our NYC studio.

One of LA’s great contemporary synthesists, the prolific knob-twiddler and collaborator presents a live set from our radio studio.

M. Geddes Gengras started releasing music under his own name in 2009, and he’s barely slowed down since. An LA-based synthesizer enthusiast with a fondness for limited-run cassette releases and sprawling, zoned-out jams, Gengras is a key figure of contemporary ambient/cosmic/new age music. Genre tags aside, he’s also a prime example of an artist following his ears down whatever wormhole his knob twists crack open. Quite naturally, hardware will be the focus of his visit to our studio at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in Los Angeles, where he’ll plug into the board and present an open-ended live set. He’ll also chart his current trajectory in a chat with the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic.

Now in his fourth decade of crafting dark, blistering ambient records, the LA-based producer brings his cavernous sound to our airwaves.

The Bunker is known as a techno institution, but the mostly beatless music of Brian “Lustmord” Williams feels especially key to its universe. Dark, abstract, psychedelic and cavernous, Lustmord’s sound has been churning and evolving over the course of myriad recordings and live projects since the early ‘80s. Lustmord is a longtime musical hero of the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic; they met and became friends through numerous editions of Unsound Festival New York. Since the ’90s, Williams has lived and worked in LA as a sound designer for film, where his credits include The Crow, From Dusk Till Dawn and Underworld. Bryan asked him to join us in our studio at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in Los Angeles, and the pair will devote the entire broadcast to Lustmord’s own productions and perspective.

The Visionquest maestro steps into our Los Angeles studio for a DJ set and interview with his old friend Bryan Kasenic.

Lee Curtiss and the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic go way back – Bryan has been booking Curtiss to DJ since the earliest days of the Bunker party on the Lower East Side. The intervening years have taken Curtiss all over the world on the back of his genre-skirting DJ sets and productions, most recently under the auspices of Visionquest, his collective with fellow Detroit natives Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves. From our studio at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in Los Angeles, Curtiss will dive back into his history in New York, give an update on life in LA and drop a DJ set teasing out his wonderfully eclectic sound signature.

A Detroit-rooted artist now based in LA, the Borrowed Languages mastermind and Eye Teeth affiliate plays live from our studio.

Israel Vines calls Los Angeles home these days, but his musical mind was formed in America’s twin cities of dance music: Detroit, where he learned the art of raving, and Chicago, where he spent time behind the counter at the famed dance record shop Gramaphone. In LA he’s kept the fire of Midwestern techno, running the short-lived but brightly burning Borrowed Language label and, more recently, releasing a string of records via Interdimensional Transmissions’ Eye Teeth imprint. Sitting down with the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic live from our studio at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in Los Angeles, Vines will shed light on his deeply rooted sound and play a hefty, heady set.
