Feature film: Apparently this movie is called Deadfall, and it’s about some con artists or something, but honestly all we can remember is Nicolas Cage in it. Oh and Charlie Sheen waxing poetic while playing billiards… or at least a game where you hit balls on a pool table with no pockets. Oh and also Angus Scrimm with a robot arm. I’m making this movie sound way more fun than it is, don’t watch it.

Feature Film: Hey everybody, for real, rating low to frustrate each other is not a fun way to rate, because we’re all on the same podcast, and that podcast is to rate movies together and make it entertaining for our audiences. And so when people rate low just to frustrate each other, and just to troll each other, there’s enough of that in the world today, of people trolling each other to be mean, and to be hurtful, and if we’re gonna review in the space together we need to do it because we want each other to have fun, and not because we’re trying to frustrate each other, ‘cause there’s enough frustrating things in the world right now, and there’s enough we can’t control. and one of the things we can control is that everyone’s here to have fun, and not waste each other’s time. and so when we make decisions that are meant to troll each other, that’s something that bad people do.

Odds and Ends: Armand Douglas Hammer has fallen on some hard times for a cannibal in the Caribbean; we go way over time gushing about Nathan Fielder’s new HBO show The Rehearsal, as well as a revisit into Nathan For You: Travis being absent, T.J. starts a new sidepod show on his own.

Feature Film: We’re discussing the much-maligned (by both audiences and the creators themselves) 80s horror/action/thriller/noir/comedy Crimewave, directed by show favorite Sam Raimi, and co-written by the Coen brothers. A true disaster piece of a movie, with many spats between filmmakers and producers, recasting against Raimi’s wishes, and more than one drug-addled cast member, Crimewave somehow, at least in our eyes, manages to come out as a true gem of “pure cinema.” Just maybe not for the reasons it was intended to be.

Odds and Ends: Welcome back to Duds After Nappies, where we are as low-energy as ever, with some smooth bedroom voices to lay you down to nappy in your nappy so you can dud in your duddies, you stinky little babies with your adult dipeys… I don’t like where this went. Anyway, the second part of Stranger Things season 4 came out, so we cover that. I dunno, I kinda ruined the mood for myself. I might have to leave.

Feature Film: We talk Brawl in Cell Block 99, featuring at least a single brawl, and eventually a cell block 99. A movie many would call… man, did I go too far with the odds and ends section? I’m kind of worried that’s crossing a line and people might not look at me the same way now. Do I need to say that I’m not into baby play, or does pointing that out only make it more suspicious? If only there was a way to get rid of what I typed already, like some kind of untype button. I’m gonna go to sleep.

Odds and Ends: We’re feeling very patriotic (and hungry) this week, not for any particular timely reason or anything. T.J. watched a lot of stuff this week, and he talks about pretty much all of it. From the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, to Sean Baker’s Red Rocket, to the Nicolas Cage movie that has that title you’ll forget if I say it here, to the new Top Gun. Nick also watched some Cage movies, naturally. There Won’t Be Nick reveals some sinister truths beneath the Duds surface, and we are scared.

Feature film: Vittorio De Sica’s Italian neorealist classic, Bicycle Thieves, which totally ripped off Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. A timeless story about class struggle and governments failing their citizens. Fun stuff like that. Featuring zero gabagool but plenty of hand pinching and arm waving, not to mention a very cheesy sandwich, this movie has earned its place in cinematic history. Definitely for just those reasons and nothing else.

Feature film: Back on the Depp train as we discuss Finding Neverland, a very by the numbers Oscar baity movie that still hits the right notes. For most of us, at least. Directed by Marc Forster, who might be T.J.’s most hated director for how much he reminds him of himself. It’s about Peter Pan, could you not tell from the title? Wow, have you seen the Disney classic, or even Hook? Yeah, it’s the same Peter Pan as the one in the movie with Jeremy Sumpter. God, why are you even here?
