Out of the wreckage and into the Red Jack! The lettercol catches up with issue #19's new departure! And Dave and Elise receive a missive from the excellent David A!

Finally, as suggested by listener Jay, here's an Amazon link to Dave's time travel novel, Hypocritic Days (published by Insomniac Press), which is set in the pulp magazine and film worlds of the early 1930s. Please do let us know if you check it out.

Join Elise and Dave as they wrap up Grant Morrison's debut tale on the Doom Patrol book ("Crawling From the Wreckage") - a little too neatly, if you ask Dave. We see intimations of Walter White in The Chief and Twin Peaks' green glove in the heartwarming finale. "Curdle yr pilgrimage" is the new "check yr privilege".

Our ridiculous podcast goes from the Sublime to the Sublime with a new project - covering Grant Morrison's DOOM PATROL. We begin with the first half (DOOM PATROL volume 2 #19 and #20) of Morrison's inaugural 4-part tale, "Crawling From the Wreckage".
Keep your beautiful bits about you and watch out for falling appliances, dear friends!
Errata - Elise wants everyone to know that she is very well aware that George Perez did that late-80s WONDER WOMAN series without the Wolfman, and Dave is just mortified that he mixed up FIRST ISSUE SPECIAL and SHOWCASE for a little while there...

In the wrap-up episode of our first viewing of TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN, Elise and Dave respond to each other's wildly different interpretations of the finale with due skepticism, but find many areas of agreement... by the end of the 3 hours! We talk time travel narratives and alternate universes, the meaning of that symbol, the nature of evil, Shakespearean romance, portrait movies, why Audrey can't enter the narrative of THE RETURN, and why Coop gets a personality change for the worse in Episode 18. And more!

Released early for your potential Labo(u)r Day enjoyment: Dave and Elise make their first attempts to wrap their heads around this great work, whose 2-part finale finally becomes a full-blown time travel narrative that bears some resemblance to other time travel narratives about trauma.

Everything is big in the semi-penultimate episode of THE RETURN: big fan service, big revelations, big questions, big guns, and food for big speculations. Like Gord, we can only watch the blinking lights and hope that we'll be prepared when the tulpa is activated.

We react to the many emotionally charged, high-energy scenes of Episode 15 of THE RETURN: scenes we've been waiting for for almost three decades, scenes we've been waiting for for a dozen episodes, scenes we weren't waiting for at all, and a couple of beautiful scenes that we never wanted to see. Some characters (like Wendy Robie's Nadine, who gets her best-ever scene) break out of hellish decades-long patterns, while others are in hellish patterns from which death (their own, their partner's, or both) seems the only escape. But Dougie shows some ingenuity that may or may not lead to change.

Sit back, relax, and take your face off: Episode 14 of THE RETURN is here. Somebody spoke and I went into a dream. But who is the dreamer? The alien gods have seen some Marvel movies and they're ready to make some traditional (well, sort of) superheroes. But have Lynch and/or Frost seen Jeannot Szwarc's much-hated 1984 SUPERGIRL?

Audrey has an existential crisis. Another enemy becomes a friend. Large gangs with kindergartenish initiation rites are no match for Mr C. Elise gets autobiographical about the appeal of Season 1 Audrey, and Dave dives into fan time travel theories (thanks to Adam at Diane Podcast for bringing these to our attention - support Diane's patreon!!)

Episode 12 is front-loaded with kindness and full of stories about offscreen characters who are the protagonists of other TV shows in other realities. A familiar face we've been longing to see turnips. Sonny-Jim learns that you can't teach a new dad old tricks. Some young grocery store workers learn that if you're going to get a new style of jerky, you should warn your sensitive customers.
