🚫 3 self-help LIES to get rid of 🚫
🙅♂️ A positive attitude is the key to success
People with positive attitudes are great to be around. But it doesn't always mean they are people who are successful — conversely, I'm sure you can think of at least one person with a negative attitude who has built a successful business or made great strides in their career.
The key to success is resolve.
Whether you're a positive or negative person, if you have resolve, you will achieve what you set out to do. It's what drives you to push past obstacles and hardships, and do what you don't want to do.
Resolve can appear ferocious at times, but it will get things done.
🙅♂️ Follow your passion
This one can be a trap. If you follow your passion and turn it into a career, you introduce all the stresses of work into what was once your escape from it.
Instead, bring passion into your work, and great things will happen.
You may not be passionate about your job, but you can be passionate about doing great things with an organization of great people, breaking records, and building a legacy larger than yourself.
If you can bring passion into what you do, you will have abundant success no matter where you are or what you do.
🙅♂️ Listen, don't speak
People often say you should listen twice as often as you speak, or that you were born with 2 ears and 1 mouth.
But being a good communicator is not simply just emphasizing the concept of "listening."
A good communicator listens as long as it takes to understand, and speaks long enough to be understood.
"Understanding" is key here. I'm sure you've spoken to at least one person who listens to everything you said and retained not even 1% of it.
Rather than follow these common misconceptions, focus on building resolve, bringing your passion to what you do, and seeking to understand and be understood.
