  • 054: Steve Plarre - CEO, Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse

Steve Plarre, in his own words, is a proud dad & husband, a solid friend, a CEO & a muso (when time permits).

Steve, with the support of his Dad and brother Mike, leads Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse.

Ferguson Plarre is family-owned bakery and Steve actively manages the day-to-day running of the business, which consists of 80 retail stores across Victoria and an extended team of over 1000 people.

Steve is a committed learner and action-taker. His self-driven learning includes continual reflection about the people he surrounds himself with, and their impact on his ability to be the best leader possible.

This interview covers Steve’s transition from uni student and part-time baker to finance manager and eventually CEO.

    Enjoy :)

  • 052: The return of Glen Richards - former MD at Greencross Vets

You may know Glen Richards better as a shark on Channel 10's Shark Tank Australia.

Returning for his second interview on the Think Big, Act Small podcast, we get further into Glen's back story, including how he transitioned from a practising vet to the managing director of Greencross Vets.

This transition created more time and space in his life - as well as being a better leader and making better business decisions, he was also able to spend more time with his family.

For this new season of the Think Big, Act Small podcast, that leadership transition will be a theme we dig deep in with many guests.

    Enjoy :)

  • 048: Culture Lessons - Do you document your culture with an inspiring culture library or memory bank?

This solo episode explores the final item (#19) on the 'Culture Is Everything' checklist: Do you document your culture with an inspiring culture library or memory bank?

There are so many wins, challenges, smiles, tears and lessons learned while growing a team with a strong culture; we need to document these memories as we go.

I recommend you create an annual culture book (a yearbook dedicated to your team) just like these examples:

    • The Physio Co - 2019 Culture Book
    • The Physio Co - 2018 Culture Book
    • She Maps
    • HealthCert
    • Zappos

Last thing - stay tuned next week for a wrap of Season 2 featuring key take-aways from each guest that has appeared over the year.

    Enjoy :)

This solo episode explores item #18 on the 'Culture Is Everything' checklist: Do you have a regular rhythm of parties to celebrate the milestones of your culture and to acknowledge the personal wins of team members?

Where last episode dealt with life's troughs, this episode is all about enjoying the peaks. By turning off your 'filter for bad', you'll be better able to recognise both planned and spontaneous opportunities to celebrate team and individual - big and small.
