It’s time to get groovy………..with a comic book!! Doing our best to bring back actual comic books every once in a while, and talk about some fun stuff!! Because we recently watched Evil Dead, we had to try and read something Ash related!! So, we spoke about the Army of Darkness comic book arch, Ashes 2 Ashes!!
“Along the way, Evil Ash is resurrected in Egypt and builds another “Army of Darkness” to help him take over the world. In the end, the combined forces of Ash, Lord Arthur, Henry The Red and their soldiers defeat Evil Ash and his army once again.”
Anything Evil Dead or Army of Darkness related, when it comes to the comic books is actually a bit confusing! Only one of the series has the rights to do more things related to the movies, and Bruce Campbell we think, only gets credit for one of the series. BUT, they’re all fund reads. This comic book arch happens after the Army of Darkness, and of course has to do with time travel, and is as silly and gory as the movies! I recommend you picking up any Evil Dead or Army of Darkness issue, as you know what you’re going to get, and they don’t dissapoint!

This might be one of the strangest series that we have watched in a little while! Today’s episode is a recreation/sequel of something that David Bowie did, if that is any indication of how strange this TV show might be! BUT, Chiwetel Ejiofor is a phenomenal actor, with an awesome surrounding cast, so it’s definitely something that you should got to Showtime in order to watch! We’re talking about The Man Who Fell to Earth!
“An alien (Chiwetel Ejiofor) arrives on earth with a mission: to learn to become human and find the one woman (Naomie Harris) who can help save his species. Together they discover that in order to save his world, they must first save ours.”
Chiwetel’s alien character seems absolutely alien. His mannerisms, and speech, definitely tell the audience that this character isn’t from earth. He’s come to earth in order to save his world which is going through a giant drought, but finds out that he also must save Earth! If you tune in to this series for anything, tune in for Chiwetel’s performance, and I promise you’ll be sucked in by everything else.

Time to go back in our time machine to the year 1981!! A lot of things were happening around that time, and many probably missed this less than $500K movie, until later on in life! We’re talking about a movie that kicked off Bruce Campbell‘s career! Of course, we’re talking about The Evil Dead!
“Ashley “Ash” Williams (Bruce Campbell), his girlfriend and three pals hike into the woods to a cabin for a fun night away. There they find an old book, the Necronomicon, whose text reawakens the dead when it’s read aloud. The friends inadvertently release a flood of evil and must fight for their lives or become one of the evil dead. Ash watches his friends become possessed, and must make a difficult decision before daybreak to save his own life in this, the first of Sam Raimi’s trilogy.”
What happens when you read from the book of the dead? Apparently everyone you know gets possessed no matter what, and the deadites walk the Earth! This movie does a lot with its small budget, that a lot of big budget horror films weren’t doing at the time! If somehow you’ve made it this far in life without seeing this movie, go watch it before you listen to the episode! Then when you’re done with the episode go watch all the rest of the Evil Dead universe, in anticipation of a new series coming very soon! You won’t regret it!

What a wild ride this today’s topic is! Some might say that it’s a little slow for what is going on during the film, and others have absolutely loved it so far! This was supposed to come out before the latest Spider-Man movie, but with COVID and other things going on in the world, some of the movie had to be reshot, in order to change the order! We’re talking about the latest MCU film, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness!
“Dr Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. However, a threat emerges that may be too big for his team to handle.”
Not a TON of things were super surprising with this film, because of the spoilers that surrounded the cameos!! I won’t spoil those here in case you haven’t seen it, but some of the cameos alone are worth the price of admission! What was a huge surprise was that role that Wanda plays in the whole film! THAT was a surprising turn of events!! Make sure that you go watch the film, and let us know what you thought about the movie, versus what we thought about it!

Time to go back to 1996, when I was all of nine years old! We’re taking you to a film in which there happens to be a TON of over acting, but never in a bad way! There are even rumors that suggest that the character that Sean Connery plays, is just a future version of his James Bond character!! We’re talking about the Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage, and Ed Harris film, The Rock!
“FBI chemical warfare expert Stanley Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage) is sent on an urgent mission with a former British spy, John Patrick Mason (Sean Connery), to stop Gen. Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) from launching chemical weapons on Alcatraz Island into San Francisco. Gen. Hummel demands $100 million in war reparations to be paid to the families of slain servicemen who died on covert operations. After their SEAL team is wiped out, Stanley and John deal with the soldiers on their own.”
I’m not all too sure what 1996 looked like, but what a world we live in now, where Ed Harris looks like he might have been the good guy in The Rock! All he’s doing is trying to get compensation for soldiers’ families, whom he thinks were screwed over by the government! Seems right on point with what is going on today. Once again, we’re in a wind storm, so it’s tough to really be able to jump into the movie entirely, but let us know what you think about this movie, and let us know what you think about our short thoughts!

What happens when Josh Brolin finds a magic giant whole on some part of his farm? The answers might actually surprise you! Josh plays a rancher who is going through a legal fight with his neighbor, over some land rights, is dealing with a random stranger showing up on the ranch in order to stay and find a story to tell, AND having to deal with a giant whole on his ranch. That seems like a lot of stuff going on in today’s episode, talking about the Prime Video series, Outer Range!
“The synopsis reads, “Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness. A thrilling fable with hints of wry humor and supernatural mystery, Outer Range examines how we grapple with the unknown.”
Turns out that the whole might be some kind of time travel? What!? you know that our team is generally pretty excited about a time travel story! Check this out on Prime Video and let us know what you think about the series, and the ending. Because of the wind storm that was happening around us, unfortunately, we didn’t get to speak too much about the series, but we both enjoyed it none the less.

It’s time to talk about a threequel!! Today’s film has been MANY years in the making. Unfortunately, it went through some troubled times, even ahead of its filming. We’ve now seen three different versions of Grindelwald. One, on purpose because of the plot of the first movie, and one because of everything else that was surrounding Johnny Depp. This caused a TON of drama pre filming, and the different in looks was never even addressed in the movie. But, we are of course talking about Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
“Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful, dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards and witches. They soon encounter an array of old and new beasts as they clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers.”
With a supposed two more movies coming still, this movie feels less like a sequel, and more like a continuation of a giant story! BUT, this is more of a romance film between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, and that is what is moving the plot forward. There IS indeed a secret Dumbledore, and this movie explains who that person is, and why he’s never been known! PLUS you get some beasts, and to spend some time with some familiar characters! Check out the film, and let us know if you agree with our assessment.

Our team seems to really like the projects that are coming out of South Korea. They have really nailed some great television lately, and we’re excited for all of it. One of the projects was a zombie series titled Kingdom. It such a unique take on the zombie genre, that sometimes can feel played out at this point. For today’s episode, we’re talking about a Ashin of the North, which serves as a prequel to the series, in the form of a film.
“Kingdom: Ashin of the North explores the backstory of Ashin, the mysterious heir of the Northern Seongjeoyain tribe village, and the origin of the resurrection plant that triggered an unprecedented cascade of tragic events that swept through the Kingdom of Joseon.”
At the end of the second season of Kingdom we are introduced to a female character, whom up to that point had not been introduced. This is her story. This is the telling of what happened to her as a child, and how she got thrown into this universe. I think, no matter how we did or didn’t feel about this film, we’re excited to see where this franchise goes in the future.

It’s been a while since we had an interview on the show!! I think that it’s about time to break that streak! What better way to break that streak than to have a returning guest of the show!! For today’s interview episode we are once again speaking to Dacia M. Arnold!! We spoke with Dacia a few years ago during Comic Con in Denver Colorado about her book, Apparent Power. A lot of things have occurred since that time, and we reconnected in order to speak to her about her newest book, Dirty Bombs!
“Army Staff Sergeant MIRANDA ST CLAIRE faces a new enemy on her outpost in Southern Iraq: Zombies. Will she obey her General Order and quarantine at the combat support hospital surrounded by the walking dead? Or will she face a court martial in order to survive?”
Dirty Bombs is a dystopian zombie story, with a kickass female lead! Dacia talks about what kind of lead she decided to have her main character represent, and why she decided to set it in a zombie dystopian universe. We do of course speak a little bit about her previous stories, AND we talk about her time as an author’s coach! Doyle is going to be taking one of her lesson’s and will be reporting back to us all about that. For now, take Doyle’s advice, and go check out Dirty Bombs!

What is there to say about Steven Spielberg’s first movie? It is not the easiest movie to sit through, only because it is really only one note, and sometimes that one note doesn’t make a ton of sense. But we are talking about the Dennis Weaver film, Duel!
“David Mann (Dennis Weaver), a mild mannered electronics salesman, is driving cross-country on a two-lane highway when he encounters an old oil tanker driven by an unseen driver who seems to enjoy annoying him with dangerous antics on the road. Unable to escape the demonic big rig, David finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the monstrous truck. When the pursuit escalates to deadly levels, David must summon his inner warrior and turn the tables on his tormentor.”
What do you do when you apparently piss off a trucker for no apparent reason? You don’t U turn that’s for sure!! This movie spawned highway thriller’s like Joy Ride, but that’s really a big surprise because this movie can be a bit of a snore fest. Watch as a businessman is trying to get to a meeting when a trucker terrorizes him on the highway.
