Thinking Outside The Long Box

In the future, 2020 will be known for many things. Some good, and some bad. The topic  of today, will be viewed as good for some, and bad for others! Give us a listen, go watch the show, and let us know what you thought about it! We are speaking about the Star Trek show, Lower Decks!

Stare Trek: Lower Decks is an animated series, is all about the "lower deck" crew members of the Cerritos. It stars Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells, and Eugene Cordero. Lower Decks is a comedy based animated series, that will remind you a little bit of shows like Futurama, American Dad, etc. At the time of this recording, there were only three episodes out, which of course could change our minds in the future, but for now, it's all we had to go by. What do you all think of this more raunchy, mature, animated series?

I don't think you had enough Blood Machines!!! Because we don't think you had enough, we're back with another amazing interview from this crazy visual movie!! For today's interview, we had the chance to sit down and speak with Elisa Lasowski, who played Corey in the film.

Corey is a priestess, who for some reason, is protecting all of the robots! Corey leads a whole group of priestesses that rule with an iron fist! Elisa told us about the process of getting the role, plus the process of filming. Because a good amount of her role was accomplished through CGI, she told us some funny stories about not really knowing what was happening, but trusting completely in the directors. She also tells us what it felt like when she first saw how visually stunning the movie ended up being! This is a really good interview with Elisa, plus you'll get to learn more about French cinema!

Here we are, you thought we were done with our coverage of the Amazon Prime Video movie, The Vast of Night! BUT, with a movie so good, we had to try and speak with everyone that we could, in order to understand this awesome movie, and team more!! To that end, we bring you another very fun interview from one of the principle actors!!

Today, we release our chat that we had with Sierra McCormick! Sierra plays the female lead, Fay Corker! Fay works as the local switchboard operator in their town, with hopes to be a disc jockey like her friend Everett! With hopes of being more than a local DJ, Fay learns everything that she can about the profession, when they're thrown into an adventure of a lifetime! It turns out, that while there is a Basketball game going on that includes almost the whole town, Fay & Everett discover a signal, seemingly coming from outer space. This movie has some of the best dialogue of the year, and has almost 0 aliens, for being an "alien" movie. If, after all our interviews, you still have NOT watched this movie, you must watch it first, and then come listen to Sierra talk! This team sounds like they made a great bond while filming!

Our last episode in the pop culture classic session is ready to go!! This one comes with some cool cars, and a monster that, maybe isn't the greatest monster of all time! Plus, it was the newest, old movie we watched, only having to travel back to 1958!!

Of course we're talking about the Steve McQueen movie, The Blob!! PLUS, it has a really cool song that you can teach to the kids! I think out of all three of the movies that we revisited in the 50's, this was probably the slowest paced one, and may have been the one least liked of the trio. BUT, what did you all think of The Blob? Do you like the slow burn of a monster that, maybe you can avoid by just simply, walking around it? Or does it just trudge on like a bad zombie movie? Let us know what you thought about this 1958 movie, and what you thought about the performance by the awesome, Steve McQueen!!

We have a special interview today!! We had the opportunity to speak with one of the principle actors in the movie from Shudder, Blood Machines! We spoke with Anders Heinrichsen about his time on the movie!

Anders tells us the story of him being involved in this visually stunning movie, as well as what he thought about the movie, and what he wanted to do after watching the movie for the first time! It's a hilariously short story, and Anders is a funny and relatable human being! If you STILL have not seen this movie, you need to do yourself a favor and make sure that you go watch it, but make sure that you watch it after you've listened to this interview with Anders!

We're back at it, with another pop culture classic episode!! This is the second of three pop culture classic episodes, and probably, we all agree, that it is the best of all three movies that we took a look back onto. Again, we are staying in the year of 1951! We're of course talking about the original, The Day The Earth Stood Still! Keanu Reeves might be amazing, but we're talking about the original Klaatu played by Michael Rennie!

The Day The Earth Stood Still, tells the story of the alien, Klaatu, and his "giant" robot, GORT, visiting Earth. Of course, this is not just a normal visit to a different planet, as they come with a message. Earthlings now have the power of nuclear weapons, and this is something that could threaten the rest of the universe. Because of this, Klaatu and GORT come to Earth to tell their leaders, change your ways, or you will be decimated! This movie is STILL relevant for what is going on in the world, still, today.

We have a very cool recording session for all of you!! We decided that we would take the time in this recording session, to focus all of our topics on three different pop culture classics!! For the first topic of this recording session, we are taking a look WAY back to 1951. In 1951, there was a "horror" movie created, that would contribute to future horror movies, called, The Thing: From another World!

Nope, not the one from John Carpenter, the one that came even before that!! This is the story of a team of scientists, that are on a project in the Arctic. During one of their expeditions, they encounter something that seems to be frozen underneath the ice, that looks like a space ship. While exploring the frozen space ship, they also find a humanoid creature frozen next to it. Of course, like any scientist, they take it out of the ice, it ends up melting, and then chaos ensues! Let us know what you think of this movie, and the movies it spawned, and if you agree with what we think about this movie!

You know what time it is right!? It's one of my favorite times of the week, because these episodes involve some of you, our amazing listeners!! It's LISTENER INTERACTION time!! It's that time of the week, where we opened up the subject options to all of you, and see where that would take us!! We LOVE involving as many of our listeners as we can, because that's what makes these episodes so interesting!!

PLUS, during this episode, we did the Carolina Reaper beef jerky challenge!! One of the hosts gets all of his pepper seeds from Pepper Joe's, and they just so happened to have some Carolina Reaper beef jerky ready for sale this year! So, of course, we had to eat it on the show!! Hopefully all of you reading this, will join us in the future, for a future listener interaction episode!!

Netflix is doing a great job, during 2020, the year of the pandemic! They've continued to put out good content, whether it's in a really good horror series, or equally as good movies! We've visited the Netflix well a lot this year, and this episode is no different! We are talking abut the new Charlize Theron movie, The Old Guard.

The Old Guard tells the story of a group of immortals. NO, there isn't just one, there are many of them. The questions of WHY they're immortal is never really answered, but they've leaved for centuries, fighting with each other, and against each other, and THIS is what makes them a great team of mercenaries! When it's time for them to find a new person that is like them, they all seem to dream about this person, and this person's location. This is the story of finding one more person for the team, and Charlize Theron's character coming to grips with the end of her immortality!
