Roe v. Wade decision requires an emotional response, one filled with empathy and space to grieve what has been lost. Women who can have babies have lost a right to their own bodies. Whether that includes you or not, the fact is that 23% of women have had an abortion. 6 out of 10 Americans support a woman's right to choose. The Supreme Court ruling was an exercise in raw power - not one reflective of the will of the people, but one hidden behind a false narrative of original intent. When the Constitution was created, our very existence could have only happened with white men who had access to black female bodies. To embrace the idea that the Constitution cannot evolve is to choose some of our darkest history.

This is the 3rd episode in a series of discussions about the "Perfect Storm" of climate change, and over-reach caused by population and consumption rate of growth. The first episode defined the problem: the challenge of an economic system that demands and rewards both continuous growth and the lack of public understanding about the relationship between energy and productivity. This third episode continues an overview of the first set of solutions: Energy Efficiency (doing more with less) and energy conservation (using less energy) with a focus on wastewater treatment. Wastewater includes both potable water and the electricity to produce and dispose of it. University of Hawaii invented technology that addresses these issues by reducing/reusing precious water and reducing the energy to treat it by up to 50%. This solution allows us to optimize energy use. Importantly, this is a solution that is within reach of individuals and can impact many facets of our lives. It is being used today.

On Sunday June 19, 2022, the Colombians elected for the first time in history a left-sided government led by Gustavo Petro, former Bogota mayor and demobilized rebel member, and Francia Márquez, a Black feminist and environmental social leader. Continuing a short series on the election, in this episode, Juliana Guerrero discusses with Nicolás Süssmann the feminists' and women's perspectives. They discuss what the election means from that standpoint, how feminist and women groups see the election and the first decisions made by the president elect, and the implication that this has for the country, including hints that the new administration has given in its first weeks post-election about its future plans. Between hope and fear of different sectors, we analyze how the new government is looking for Colombia.
