Today I speak with Jay Shifman, vulnerable storyteller, podcast host, Ted-x speaker, and so much more. As a person ten years in recovery who survived multiple suicide attempts and an overdose, Jay fights to end the stigma around Mental Health and Substance Misuse by telling his recovery story and advocating for opportunities for others to do the same. Jay entreats that we must cease giving in to that stigma; instead, we can accept that they make us uncomfortable and push past that barrier toward life-saving change. Jay is an open book which made it so genuinely powerful to connect with him in this conversation.
In a country where as many as one in two will struggle with an issue of Mental Health or Substance Misuse at some point in their life, the average American is still underserved by an outdated model of care. Too many communities don't have a Mental Health provider at all and, if they do, a lack of insurance coverage and the vast wall of stigma around these issues makes help unaffordable and unattainable for most. Mental Health coaches like Jay Shifman help close that gap, and to do so Jay works with those ready to choose the next step in their Mental Health journey.

How easy it is for children to wish upon a star or a dandelion flower, blowing the seeds away as if to set their dreams in motion.
At some point, I stopped dreaming. I merely put one foot in front of the other, until I had completely forgotten how to dream or where dreams come from. I had to learn again.
When I found myself dreaming, and talking about dreams once more, I saw the magic of childhood spreading to those closest to me. Now, we are a family of dreamers. We are a family of dream-makers.
Today I dive into how to start dreaming again because your dreams matter, regardless of how big or small.
I hope you enjoy the conversation!

Today I speak with Kelly Wallace, a CSA survivor, advocate, writer about her journey of growing up with experiencing childhood sexual abuse, and then the added trauma of a large portion of her family not believing her. We unpack it all.
What I want to pull out of our conversation is just how bad ass Kelly is. She was able to, at such a young age, stand so firmly in her truth. Then, while still on her own journey of healing, be able to speak her truth and advocate for others.
More about Kelly:
Kelly Wallace is an entrepreneur, writer and speaker. She writes and speaks about her experience as a survivor of child sexual abuse and is at work on a memoir.

How often are you letting people see beyond the tip of your ice burg? If you're anything like me, you wear your armor pretty close to the chest. I get it, it feels safe & you're in control of the narrative. The problem with that though tends to be, you're only letting people see one version or sliver of you, which puts you on a pretty narrow path, or tightrope.
Today I dive into how you can use curiosity of self & of others to move beyond the tightrope and feel like you can explore the entire gym floor.
I hope you enjoy the conversation!
