This Is Silly with the Louligans!

We are exhausted after that game. Somehow, the boys gutted out a huge draw against Indy, down 2 men, and everyone carrying yellow cards for us it seemed. So we’re doing a post game episode for a Wednesday night game.

“In a vacuum…”that’s a huge result. But now the game in Lulvul means that much more. We have to win to keep our season alive, and take home the Kings’ Cup. One game means everything.

Listen to what we have to say…it’s a shorter one since we’re just spent. Saturday. Must win.

We’re barely gonna talk about that game saturday. Was a terrible result and just not good enough. Playoffs essentially start this saturday vs Sporting KC II.

Instead, we’re gonna focus on the positive today: CITY season ticket deposits happened. And who better to talk about it than Dennis Moore, CRO of Saint Louis City SC.

Dennis talks about what went into today, and the numbers hit. We had to hold the pod until they made the official announcement, but DAMN!

Dennis is a great guy, and a great hire for CITY to focus on the sports side. While he couldn’t be in studio due to COVID, he’s promised to come on later and share stories. Look forward to it!

The win on friday against SKCII was huge. The playoffs essentially begin this weekend though; 2 against Louisville, 2 against Indy, and one against SKCII determine the playoff battle. Our future (to our end) is in our hands.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), Zack’s stream of consciousness wasn’t always being recorded for the pod, but we had a lot of fun and tried to give the best experience we could for those watching from home.

It’s silly, fun stories are told, and we raised a lot of money for charity. That’s all that matters.

With the announced demise of Saint Louis FC this week, it’s the worst scenario. We knew it was coming, we knew it was inevitable, but it’s still the worst feeling in the world to see your team go away.

Jim Kavanaugh, CEO of Saint Louis FC, calls in to the pod to explain what led to this week’s announcement and the machinations behind the decision. Jim has always been upfront and honest with us, and tonight is no different. There’s obviously things he can’t say, but we get a lot of the answers we’ve been looking for this week.

While this is extremely depressing, we do decide to go out on this episode on an upswing. We take your favorite STLFC moments and read it on air. So enjoy the trip down memory lane, and cherish these last few games.

The boys of STLFC put on a great show saturday. Hopefully it’s not the last time we can watch them in person. 2020 can suck it, and suck it hard.

So many emotions today among the Louligans!

There’s a lot of excitement for the newly dubbed Saint Louis City SC (it’s a mouthful and we trip over it), while at the other end of the spectrum, a lot of people are depressed that this is the beginning of the end of STLFC. And I think we go through that spectrum of emotions on this podcast ourselves.

Yes, drinking may have played a part.

Everyone got an opinion, and we listen and share them all. As long as it’s reasonable and (semi-)informed, we have time for you.

And Sarah was right. It’s pink.

Don’t listen to our predictions because they’re never ever right. We thought we could get a point in Memphis, and we were not good.

But that’s ok, because there’s another game already. Two this week in fact. A lot of what if’s to talk about, and soooo many tinfoil conspiracies to talk about with the MLS4theLou social media hints about the name and colors release next week.

Few things make me happier than telling you this will be a bad show because we won. And everyone says the best shows are when we’re miserable, so here’s to this show being awful!

Seriously, how can it be bad? We shut down a tough Indy team in stupidly swampy humid July heat. It’s a good thing.

Yes, we did something we’ve never done in six years.

Besides not going to Louisville, we WON in Louisville.  We do have more wins in their new stadium than they do, by the way.

We’re still riding that high tonight, and are looking forward to Sunday’s game against Indy 11.  There’s a lot at stake each game during this shortened season, so we’re gonna cover as much ground in the standings as we can while we can.

We also got news about the MLS team announcing their colors and name coming up…there’s a lot going on this week!
