  • Great Question: Jesus vs Denomination?

Great Question 3: Jesus vs Denomination? – Ken Wetmore

(Part 1) How do we, as a church, stay focused on Jesus when so many in our denomination believe that our mission is to fixate on major doctrinal issues, political hot potatoes, and/or cultural preferences?

(Part 2) As someone not raised Seventh-day Adventist, I have embraced the warmth and freedom I have found at WholeLife church. However, I have heard that our church is different from other Adventist churches. What am I missing if this is not the norm?

This week one of our #WholeLifeReflections asked: Why do you attend WholeLife?

This might be the easiest question we’ve ever asked but maybe not the simplest. Why attend or choose a faith community can have multiple layers and reasons or be very simple. Let us know why you attend WholeLife Church by voicemail or text at the contact information below (by text you may remain anonymous as there are no contact lists associated with this number), and we will read your comments or play your voicemail during next week’s episode.

NEXT WEEK: ‘Great Question 4’ - by Ken Wetmore

Considering, the story of Hagar and Sarah:  In the Genesis version, there is a lot of difficult complexity - for instance, God sends Hagar back into bondage then tells Abraham to listen to Sarah and cast Hagar and Ishmael into the wilderness. Then, Paul does a REALLY horrible retelling of this story in Galatians. He makes a point we all like - that faith trumps the law - but he does it in a way that has resulted in much Inter-religious strife, gender oppression, etc. Why do all of these horrible things seem sanctioned by, or even motivated by, God?

  • Great Question: Grace vs Merit?

Great Question 2: Grace vs Merit? – Ken Wetmore

It seems like our world – and even Christian organizations – give rewards on a merit-based system – what someone can or cannot accomplish. How can we, as Christians – and especially those of us who work in various organizations – offer the grace God has given us to others?

This week one of our #WholeLifeReflections asked: What are some practical steps you can take to show grace at work and at home?

What steps have you taken to show grace in the workplace and in your home? We would love to hear your success stories or what to avoid so please share with us by using using the information below:

  • Great Question: Man of God?

Great Question 1: Man of God? – Ken Wetmore

In 1 Kings 13, the “man of God” from Samaria lies to the man of God from Judah with lethal consequences. How can he be a man of God and do such terrible things?  The Bible does not shy away from differentiating between true prophets and false prophets, so it implies the lying prophet is a true prophet in relationship with God. How can his title and behavior be reconciled? How is it possible to be both a fully committed God follower and, at the same time, believe and share things that are not true?

This week one of our #WholeLifeReflections asked: Are there any beliefs in your life you are just taking on someone else’s word but haven’t studied for yourself?

So, are you a ‘take them at their word, person? Study and ask advice person? Or something different? Let us know what works for you by using using the information below:

  • Chosen Family

    Chosen Family – Ken Wetmore

As you process the emotions of choosing to open your life up to someone else, consider that God chooses you. God picked you to be family, and now you get to decide whether you want to be a part of God's family.

In place of our #WholeLifeReflections this week and the realization that we have all been ‘Chosen’ by God we are extending the invitation from this past Saturday morning’s services to anyone who feels ‘Chosen’ to take time to consider if you would like to respond in any of the following ways.

    Text word(s) to (833) 596-2722:

JESUS (if you are choosing Jesus for the first time)

BAPTIZE (if you want to be baptized)

JOIN (if you want to become a member of WholeLife Church)

ALL (if you want to be baptized and join the church)

  • This Is US: Participation

SERIES: THIS IS US: Participation – Ken Wetmore

Jesus calls for us to not merely talk about our values, but to live them - in other words, to participate. We are to participate in loving, accepting, forgiving, giving grace, studying the Bible, and worshipping. Our participation is for the purpose of falling more deeply in love with Jesus and sharing that relationship with a world that needs to know about what Jesus has already freely given.

This week our #WholeLifeReflections questions were replaced by the Matthew 25 Challenge. Open your phone's texting, and type in 56170 in the space where you would put someone’s phone number. Then, in the body of the text where the message goes, type WHOLELIFEM25 then hit send. You’ll get a response back confirming your participation and even offering a family guide to download if you would like that.

Please join in with your church family in diving deep into Jesus' call to you to participate in His kingdom plan.

  • This Is US: Worship

SERIES: THIS IS US: Worship – Ken Wetmore

Who you worship and how you worship are at the heart of the Bible’s message. Fighting over worship styles misses what true worship is all about. True worship is found in the truth, as it is in Jesus, and our spirits connecting with God’s Spirit. When we do this, everything else will fall into place, and we will one day find ourselves gathered around the throne of God with others from every race, nation and language, worshipping together forever.

This week one of our #WholeLifeTakeAways asked: Do you view Sabbath as a once-a-week day to get “living water” or a celebration of the “living water” you have had flowing out of you all week long?

So, how do you view Sabbath? What have you struggled with or what has become your ‘celebration’ that holds you over all week long? We would love to hear from you to learn and walk this walk together. So, if you are willing to share please send us a voicemail or text (by text you may remain anonymous as there are no contact lists associated with our text number so we won’t know who you are), or use our email below:

  • This Is US: The Bible

SERIES: THIS IS US: The Bible – Ken Wetmore

Love letter or instruction manual? How you approach the Bible is crucial. The religious leaders in Jesus’ day proved it was possible to have the Scriptures completely memorized but miss the point. From Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, the Bible is all about Jesus and an intimate relationship with Him. Jesus invites us to study the Bible so that we can know Him and receive life.

This week one of our #WholeLifeTakeAways asked: When was a time that your study of the Bible deepened your friendship with God?

We would love to hear of a time that your study of the Bible deepened your friendship with God. • This Is US: Grace

SERIES: THIS IS US: Grace – Ken Wetmore

They say you can’t choose your family, but that isn’t the case. Adoption is one of the most beautiful and loving acts because the one doing the adopting is choosing a specific person to be a part of their family. God has adopted us. We are a part of God’s family. We have all the rights and privileges that come with that adoption. We have done nothing to deserve it. That is grace.

This week one of our #WholeLifeTakeAways asked: Think about who needs your grace?

This is less about an answer and response as it is that we would love to hear how God has lead you in the past or is currently leading in your life with extending grace.
