This Life Ain't For Everybody

To make it to the major leagues is almost impossible. To stay at the major league level is even more unlikely. To be a day-to-day starter is of minuscule odds. To be a consistent offensive threat to go along with being one of the best defensive catchers in the game has rarely been done. Well, today’s guest has done all that plus being voted to the 2024 National League All-Star Team! We are honored to have the starting catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Will Smith, back on the show! Will is an awesome baseball player but above all of his accomplishments on the diamond and behind the plate, he is a genuine human being! This conversation is a good one and we can’t wait to see Will hit a bomb at the 2024 MLB All-Star Game! Now let’s imagine the late great Vin Scully making the announcement, “Now stepping up to the microphone on a brand new episode of This Life Ain’t For Everybody, Number 16 for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Will Smith!” This episode is brought to you by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, Oakley Sunglasses, Corning Ford, Mickey Thompson Tires, The Nashville Palace, Hendo’s Barrel House, Napa Valley Olive Oil, LEER Toppers, BedSlide, Rigid Lights, The Provider Culinary, American Almond Beef, and Banded Workout Wear!

Take me out to the ball game! Put me in coach, I’m ready to play! Or if you’re sittin’ in the cheap seats! Walker BUTANE Buehler is back to talk about his rehab assignments, how he has prepared for his comeback to the mound, and just how good this Los Angeles Dodgers lineup is! We are honored to call Walker a good friend and so fired up to have him back on the microphone! Now let’s play ball! There have been many, many great songs written over the years in all genres of music! When it comes to Americana Country Music, our guest today has written some of the best lyrics and songs of all time. Chris Knight is a lyrical genius and his songs are the soundtrack of all of our lives when you really get to the bottom of it. Here we go! Here we go again! Every time Chad brings up marriage, Alex tells him how dumb it is! Come on Alex! What if it’s right? Why is Crosby so against getting married to his ten-year girlfriend? The guys break this down as well as Alex accusing Chad of not knowing how to read or maybe that he never reads, whichever it is, it will get sorted out! Crosby goes on a rant about taxes and fishing licenses and government and how he just can’t wrap his arms around all of it! Laughs and more laughs and then hopefully we get some of this situated! Either way, it’s another great episode of Breakin’ It Down! Brought to you by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, Bad Boy Mowers, The Provider, LEER Toppers, Mickey Thompson Tires, Napa Valley Olive Oil, The Nashville Palace, Oakley Sunglasses, Corning Ford, BedSlide, Banded Casual Wear, Traeger Grills, and Cowboy Choice Feeds.

In this episode, Rob welcomes a good friend and fellow athletic trainer, Doug West P.H.D.

Doug West is one of the staff athletic trainers at the University of Iowa with nearly 30 years of experience working with Division I athletics. Rob and Doug spend the next hour working through topics like legacy programs and teams, having athletic kids and what parents should focus on, and communicating with young athletes. They also get into some sports science as we talk about our respective areas of study and our thesis work in graduate school. Also covered are some injuries and treatment techniques, how to take care of injuries, or finding someone with the right experience to get you through your injuries. Doug and Rob have a good time discussing these topics and a couple more. We hope you find this episode as entertaining as Rob does. Thanks for listening, and please enjoy!

Alex has Chad feeling a little down with the current state of affairs. From job search to the economy to ambition to confidence to passion to losing Faith to an all-around bleak look at everything life is throwing at us, we have to figure out a way to get fired up and back on the right track. We feel this country and its leadership have a lot of Americans feeling this exact same way and one of the best cures is to talk about it - that’s exactly what Breakin’ It Down is all about! Let’s get a little cocktail of JD poured and listen in to the events taking place! This episode is brought to you by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, Bad Boy Mowers, Napa Valley Olive Oil, Corning Ford, Mickey Thompson Tires, The Provider, American Almond Beef, Oakley Sunglasses, Cowboy Choice Feeds, The Scoreboard Nashville, and Traeger Grills.

Rob welcomes his son Spencer to the show. Spencer is joining the basketball coaching world as an assistant coach. After playing Division 3 basketball, Spencer decided to go into the profession of coaching. In pursuit of this, he found a graduate assistant (GA) basketball coaching position at Vanderbilt University, a very prestigious school and a strong conference. The SEC conference has some of the best athletes, coaches and facilities in the world. The GA position is a 2-year position where you get to learn all the ins and outs of basketball at the highest level while working on a master's degree. Spencer is now joining the staff at Eastern Florida State, a junior college that has a strong tradition of sending young basketball players to the next level. We hope you enjoy this conversation with a very new coach, but one who is driven to help young players and himself rise up in the ranks.

Can Alex make $200,000 per year in today’s job market? Is he willing to start at less than that and work his way up the ladder at this point in his life? He says that Chad is painting a picture of him as not being a worker but Chad argues that he knows Alex is a worker! Is he a worker? Alex thinks that Chad’s brands have been built on passion and Chad agrees but also thinks there was a lot of risk! All of this is discussed and these questions answered on this brand new episode of Breakin’ It Down brought to you by the one and only Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey! This episode is also brought to you by Bad Boy Mowers, Napa Valley Olive Oil, Corning Ford, LEER Toppers, American Almond Beef, The Provider, Oakley Sunglasses, Mickey Thompson Tires, Buck n Bull Feeds, Cowboy Choice Feeds, KERSHAW Knives, and The Nashville Palace!

It’s time to break it down a little more. Chad and Alex freestyle on topics from smartphones to fishing to the cool way to lace your shoes to what a sneakerhead is, and are we hip? How good were the Jerky Boys and are we really done listening to Howard Stern? And what happened to Howard Stern!? One thing is for sure though, we are cool! Haha. This episode is brought to you by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, Bad Boy Mowers, Napa Valley Olive Oil, The Provider, American Almond Beef, Angel Drops, The Nashville Palace, Cowboy Choice Feeds, Oakley Sunglasses, Mickey Thompson Tires, LEER Toppers, and BedSlide!
