Trevor Moore is probably best known for his work with The Whitest Kids You Know, a hugely popular sketch group who had a TV show and still perform together today. I broke into clubs in New York City opening for them way back in 2007/8, and it was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had. Trevor has gone on to do specials, a talk show, and even a children’s show that he cast me on as a goofy dad. Stick with the talented friends, kids!! This episode went way longer than most, mostly because we kept riffing and cracking each other up, but also because we were catching up after the longest time. Fun!

Demi Adejuyigbe and I have at least one thing in common: No one knows how to say our last names. I first learned of Demi back when I was a frequent guest on @Midnight on Comedy Central, when he was a writer and online content-creator for the show. The stuff he makes, especially the musically based-stuff, was so way out and funny it blew me away. I’d never met these guys, but I’d heard their work and became an instant fan. If you’ve never heard of Left Handed Radio, look it up, and you’re welcome. Comedian Pete Lee and I always see each other in the bathroom. The comedy club bathroom, that is. Every time one of us is on the road, and taking a leak, we see each other’s faces in the “upcoming comedians” ads the clubs place above the urinals. It’s a real honor. Pete is super funny, and a super nice guy, BUT WE’VE NEVER ACTUALLY HUNG OUT! This episode was an awesome one, because I got to know somebody I felt like I already knew, but didn’t. Kurt Braunohler and I have been friends since, what, 2006 I’d say? We ran around NYC and Los Angeles, drinking and doing comedy, as well as in several festivals. What always struck me was that he was adventurous to a fault. Like, he was always down for a good time and to explore. I think that’s what made him a great dad. He now has two daughters, I have one, and we have a wife each. What a country! Wayne is one of those guys I’ve looked up to for a long time, and a great example of positive reinvention. They say “Do what you love,” and he’s certainly done that with stand-up. What they should also say is “Study the history of what you love.” Wayne has a podcast, and now a book, called “The History of Standup.” We talked about the art, how it’s affected our lives, the history, and even my old scene full of bozos back in Chicago. Megan Galley is a comedian who grew up in Indiana, went on to do comedy in Chicago, and since then has been on Comedy Central and Conan. She’s also a hilarious maniac, in the best possible sense. My time in Chicago ended well before she moved there, but I heard from friends how funny she was after I left. We became friends through doing shows and having come from the same scene, but this is the longest convo we’ve had, and you get to hear it! What can I say about Laraine that hasn’t been said? Hilarious, kind, legendary, seen it all, done it all, is somehow friends with Matt Braunger, the list goes on and on. She’s also a mother to two grown kids who are also talented performers. When we first met we hit it off immediately, and it was like talking to an old friend. It was strange and fantastic, seeing as I vividly remember laughing at her sketches with my mom when I was barely able to walk (not because I was drunk, because I was a little boy). Jenny Yang is what you call a worker. A comedian, fashion icon (according to me and others on the internet), a writer, and creator of one of the most successful covid-era shows in the world: Comedy Crossing.
