Those Were The Days

This week on "the worst of the best," Stephen takes us through an episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" that didn’t quite hit its usual comedic mark. Titled "Son of 'But Seriously Folks,'" the episode features Jerry Van Dyke as Wes Callison, a comedian who tries to give up stand-up comedy for a job at WJM. While Van Dyke’s performance shines with his trademark humor, the episode struggles to maintain the series' typically sharp comedic pacing and character development. Tune in for a lively analysis of the highs and lows in the life of a TV classic.

Re-run! Enjoy this episode from our past and we'll be back soon!

Yeehaw! We went back in time to one of the most popular variety shows of the 70's and 80's. Hee Haw ran up to the early 90's and was consistently a high rated show, even outside of the heartland of America. There's just something about puns, dad jokes, goofy skits, and manic energy that makes a show work. We had a good time chatting about this one. Maybe we even had more fun talking about it than we did watching it. If you have any thoughts on Hee Haw, send us some email!

These week, you're TV friends took a break from reviewing all the classic episodes of TV that you're used to and finally dug into classic commercials that we all remember from growing up. We've talked about doing a commercial episode for years and we're so excited to have brought it to you for you to enjoy. You'll hear a lot of audio on this episode from the commercials we watched, but if you want to _see_ the commercials, you can go to our Youtube channel at https://2dorks.net/youtube to view the video version.

We're taking a bit of a break for the next month, but don't fret! Re-run episodes will be coming out and we'll keep you updated on our socials if you want to know what we're up to and keep the conversation going.

This week, it's much more than a hunch that we're covering The Brady Bunch! We're still on location, this time going to Hawaii where our very Brady family gets into a whole heap of trouble because of a small idol they found at a construction site. Yep, that sounds like a 70s sitcom to me! What did we think of it? Well our blended family combined to let you know. Enjoy the show!

Next week, we're doing a special "Classic Commercials" episode before we go on a brief summer hiatus. So join us and send us the commercial you love and remember. We're really excited about this one

We're going to a 90s classic that still seems to entrance audiences even today. The stories of a bunch of high school kids trying to figure it out while making us laugh along the way are among some of the most memorable. That's right, we're going to Saved By The Bell! But we're not visiting Bayside High this time because we're also "On Location" at a beach club. This little deviation in the story was a exciting because it gave us a new romance for Zack, and a whole different setting to get into new kinds of trouble. What did we think about the show? Tune in and find out!

Next week, Stephen is taking us to Hawaii with The Brady Bunch! Watch Season S4E2 on Paramount+

We only review oldies and goodies here but some of these oldies are goodier than others and I think this is one of the GOATs! The Golden Girls returns for another episode with this one taking a hilarious turn into the final season's second episode. The girls are taken to a murder mystery dinner theatre weekend and it's about as fun as you can image. Zingers and excellent comedic timing abound! What did our crew think of it? Listen and find out!

Next week, it's time for Josie and The Pussycats - Season 1 Episode 6 - "X Marks the Spot" - Streaming on HULU

It's time for Punky Power! That's right, TV friends, this week we're talking all about Punky Brewster. The plucky little girl that won all of our hearts in the mid-80s. Audie brought us a gem of a show that really encapsulates a lot of what made network TV special. We get some great laughs and a big lesson, but somehow it doesn't let itself be cheesy. Did you watch it? You should tell us!

Next week, Stephen wants you to watch Clarissa Explains It All - S5E4 - Piper Comes to Visit. Available on Paramount+

This episode is dedicated to Kurt Boutin. Go grinders.

This week, we close out Sci Fi with a show brought to us from our wonderful neighbors from the north, Canada! Or maybe you're from Canada, in that case we have you to thank for this gem of 90s network television. Psi Factor was a product of Peter Aykroyd who we discover had a brother named Dan. Dan hosts the show and brings us a convincing tales of the paranormal. Did you remember this show, or is this the first time you've heard about it? You'll have to tell us! But first, give this show a listen as Travis takes us on quite the paranormal journey.

Next week, we rolled the dice and we're kicking off Female Protagonists with Punky Brewster - S2E26 - "Cherie Lifesaver" streaming on Peacock!
