  • Wait on the Lord

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 25th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go to the Book of Judges 6:37-40. Now I would like you to read that on your own. It is a very important scripture, and we need to read it slowly. Gideon put a fleece before the Lord because he didn’t know what to do. Now for those young people listening to this, a fleece is what we take off a sheep.

Then we go to Ephesians 3:20:

”Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,…”

God can do anything that we desire if we ask Him correctly.

Now the important thing is to know that when you put a fleece before the Lord, you are prepared to obey whatever he tells you. Now what Gideon did was, he put a fleece out before the Lord at night, and he said, "Lord, when I wake up in the morning, if there is dew on the fleece and it is dry on the ground, then I will know that You will save Israel.” And the Lord did it, and then, just like you and me, still he wasn’t totally convinced. So he said, ”Lord, just please once more. Tomorrow morning, I want the fleece to be dry and the ground to be wet.” And He did it.

Oh folks, God loves you and me so much. He wants the best for us. No using that crystal ball with the fortune teller, no tarot cards, no horoscopes, no witch doctors. This is very important what I’m going to tell you now, and if God does not answer us immediately, that does not mean He hasn’t heard us, not at all, He hears all our prayers. What do we do? We wait until He answers us. So if He doesn’t answer us, don’t make a plan. That’s what King Saul did. Remember? And he lost his kingship. He would not wait for the prophet, Samuel, to come and offer a sacrifice. He said, “I’ll do it myself”, and that was the beginning of the end of his kingship.

Today, let’s wait upon the Lord. Let’s put the fleece out and let us see what God says to us.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
    Goodbye.

  • Be Content

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 24th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in 1 Corinthians 7:24:

“Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.”

Then we go to 1 Timothy 6:6:

‘Now godliness with contentment is great gain.’

Paul was saying to the believers, you don’t have to be circumcised to be a follower of Christ, you can remain in the state you are. In other words, if you are uncircumcised when you meet the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you don’t have to go and get circumcised. No, you can remain the way you are. Don’t try and be somebody you are not. Rather, remain the person that God called you to be and created you to be. Be content. I see so many people who are not happy with the way they are.

There are big, stout ladies who want to be skinny. There are skinny ladies who want to be stout. There are men with curly black hair who want straight, blonde hair. I am laughing, but it is so true, isn’t it? We are not content with where we are at. Paul says, “Let each one remain with God in the state in which they are.”

Casting Crowns is one of my favourite Gospel bands. Don’t quote me, but I think for the last 20 years, they have been the top Christian band in the world. Now, the man who leads it is a man by the name of Mark Hall. Mark Hall, folks, has dyslexia. He had that Attention Deficit at school. He couldn’t concentrate on anything, and basically they thought he had no future. I want to tell you, when that man sings, I normally cry. He has given God what he has got, and God has taken it and used it.

What about DL Moody, one of the greatest evangelists who has ever lived? He went to Britain for a few years and over 2 million converts came to Christ through his ministry. He struggled to speak English with a good accent. What about C. H. Spurgeon, the “Prince of Preachers”? He had no education. He had a very broad country accent, and yet folks, at the age of 21, they built the London Tabernacle for him to contain the crowds that were coming to hear him preach.

Today, you and I, let us be very grateful and content with the way God has made us, because if He has made us, and He has, He will also see us through.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.

    Goodbye.

  • Doing Good

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 23rd of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go straight to Isaiah 61:1. Of course, this is referring to the Lord Jesus:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
    To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;…”

Then we go straight to the Book of Acts 10:38:

“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

I want to speak to you today about doing good. There is somebody listening today who says, “Well you know, I can’t do anymore. I don’t have enough money, I am not physically strong enough, I can’t do anything.” Oh yes, you can! The main thing you can do is pray, but one man of God wrote something very beautiful, and this is what he said, “The finest of all arts is the art of doing good, and yet it is the least cultivated.” Isn’t that true? The art of doing good - we need to exercise that a little bit.

Many years ago, the Lord laid upon my heart to get small little bottles of mustard seed. My office staff know exactly what I am talking about because these precious ladies have to fill these little bottles up with mustard seed, and then we seal them, and I put them in my pocket and wherever I go and I see somebody who is looking a little bit down, a little bit anxious, I say, “Excuse me, can I give you this little gift.” And they look at this and they say, “But what is this?” And then it opens the door. I said, “You know this is a reminder for you when you are going through tough times because the Master, Jesus, said, 'If you have faith the size of one mustard seed, you can tell that mountain to move, and it must go.” They walk away with a smile on their face, knowing that if Jesus Christ is with them, there is nothing that will hold them back. Today, go and do good just like the Master did and our Lord Holy Spirit will bless you richly.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
    Goodbye.

  • Seek Him

I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Tuesday morning, the 22nd of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

We start in that beautiful scripture found in the book of Jeremiah 29:13.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Then we go straight across to Philippians 3:10. He said,

"...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."

I really believe this morning there are some people that want to grow closer to Jesus, but you're not spending time seeking Him. The Lord says to us today, "If you seek me, you'll find me."

There was two old ladies, two sisters, Peggy and Christine. Peggy was 84 years old. She was blind. Christine was 82 years old. She was crippled with arthritis. They sought the Lord with all their hearts to bring revival to the island of Lewis, off the west coast of the north of Scotland. The revival came and the revival stayed for four years and thousands of people came to Christ, because they sought after the Lord with all of their hearts.

If you really seek for God, you will find Him. He is actually waiting for you. They invited an evangelist by the name of Duncan Campbell to come up to the little island and hold an evangelistic outreach. He tells us in his memoirs that when that little boat arrived at the small harbour on the island of Lewis, these two old ladies were standing at the harbour waiting for him. When he got off that little fishing boat, they asked him a question. Mr. Campbell, do you know God? He said he was taken aback. He said, oh, ladies, I sincerely hope so. With that intensity, these ladies used to pray every night from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. in their little cottage, and God answered their prayers.

Seek Him today with all your heart and you too will find Him.
Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
    Goodbye.

  • Quiet Time

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 21st of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go to the Gospel of Matthew 6:6: “But you, when you pray, go into your room (or your closet), and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

“Faith’s stronghold is the closet”, one man of God said, “however, if the closet door hinges are rusty and the room is deserted, the heart of that room is soon taken over by the devil himself.”

It’s a funny thing, if I am with a group of men and I don’t know them too well and they have come to meet me, often I will say to the man, could you please open in a word of prayer for us, and he starts to pray. I can tell you within a minute if that man spends time in his closet or not, just by the way he speaks to Jesus. We need to spend time in the closet.

A story which I will never forget was told about the great missionary, James Hudson Taylor. He took the Gospel to China. He was responsible for sending no less than a thousand families, by faith, with no support, to China to preach the Gospel. He came back to England once, probably to find more missionaries. He was in a small prayer room with quite a few other people praying, and a journalist from America was sent over to interview this great man of God. Well, the journalist said when he walked into the room, people were praying and they were happy, but there was one man sitting in the corner of the room with a big overcoat on, and he hardly said a word, and this journalist was saying to himself, “How am I going to make a story of this interview, because this man has basically said nothing? He just sits there quietly on his own.” But when they started to pray and it was his turn to pray, the journalist said it was like Heaven came down into that room, as this man started to speak with his God personally, and it was incredible. Not only did he have a story but he had a scoop because he met a man who spoke and knew God, and the hinges on his door were well-oiled.

Today, make a point of spending time in the quiet time room before you go out to face the world.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day

    Goodbye.

  • Go To God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 20th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go to the Book of Psalms 32:8:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”

Then we go straight to 1 Corinthians 6:1:

“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?”

That is quite a stern rebuke, isn’t it? “Why do we go to the system of the world for justice when we will one day be judging the angels?” is what Paul writes just a little bit further on. I want to tell you a true story that is quite amazing. You can read it in 1 Kings 3:16.

There were two harlots who were living in one house. They were both pregnant. They both had babies within a couple of days of each other. One night, when they were sleeping, the one mother rolled over by mistake on top of her little baby boy and smothered him. So she got up in the middle of the night and took the dead baby and put it next to the other mother with the live baby, and she took the live baby into her bed.

When they woke up in the morning, the mother of the live baby realised that the dead baby was not actually her baby. Now they had a predicament because the other mother said, “No, the dead baby is not mine,” but it was. They didn’t know what to do. So eventually they went to Solomon. They did not go to the system of the world, they went to the man of God and they told the story to him. Two women, two babies, one dead and the other alive, both of them claiming that the baby that was alive was theirs, and the other one that had died belonged to the other woman.

Solomon sat with a predicament, so what did he do? He said, “Bring me a sharp sword and what I will do is cut the live baby in half, and then you can have half each.” Well, the mother of the dead baby said to the king, “That is equal and that is justice and that is fine,” but the mother of the live baby said, “No! Please King, give the live baby to the other woman.” And then Solomon said, “The mother of this baby is the one who was concerned that her baby should live and the other woman was the one who had the dead baby.”

Now folks, that is quite profound, isn’t it? And that is in the Bible. Please, I want to encourage you as the Lord is encouraging me this morning. Take your problems to God. Take your situation to another man of God, woman of God, and ask them to help you to do the just thing.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day

    Goodbye.

  • Today

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 19th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go straight to Galatians 2:20. Paul says:

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

    What a powerful scripture!

I read something in a little book that I want to share with you, and it was written by a Roman Emperor named Marcus Aurelius. This is what he said: “I expect to pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing that I can do, to any fellow human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it; for I will not pass this way again.” What a powerful word for you and me today. ”I shall not pass this way again.” We live once and then the judgement. Let us not put off for tomorrow, things we can do today.

We need to put our flesh down once and for all as the scripture says because it is Christ in us that gives us the strength. Phone that person after this message. Email them, send them a text, tell them how you love them, ask them to forgive you for something you have done to them a long time ago, maybe unconditionally, because you will not pass this way again. This is the life, this is not a dummy run and we are coming back to give it another go. No, we don’t believe in that. We do not believe, like some faiths, that you keep coming back until you get it right. No, this is it!  After this, it is eternal judgement and it is home time.

Oh my friends, don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today because you don’t really know if you have tomorrow, but one thing you do know is, you have today, and live it to the full and make sure that you don’t leave any regrets behind.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day today.
    Goodbye.

  • Tough Love

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 18th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We go to 1 Corinthians 5:5:

”…deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”

That is very sobering, isn’t it?  We need to understand something. Many of us need to apply tough love. Release them into God’s hands. In fact, Paul says, ”Hand them over to the devil, so that their souls may be saved.”

Often in a meeting, people will come to me broken, maybe it’s a lady, and she says, "My husband, I really love him, but he will not stop his filthy habit” - whatever that might be. It might be adultery, alcohol, drugs, whatever, ”and I pray, and I pray, and he doesn’t listen.”

Then I say, ”Can I pray for him?”

    “Yes please.”

I said, ”I’m going to pray a very difficult prayer. I’m going to pray that God will bring him home at all costs.” I say to the lady who’s in tears, standing there with her children, “Do you understand what that means?” I said, ”It means whatever it takes.” And this is what Paul is talking about - that his flesh might be destroyed so that his soul might be saved. Then, hesitatingly sometimes, sometimes straight away, “Yes please pray that prayer.” And I pray that prayer with all of my heart because I love that man, but he is destroying himself and his family, and then we wait for the results.

I want to say to you, you cannot keep feeding your loved one hamburgers when they are in the pigsty. There comes a day when you say, ”No more hamburgers.”

    “Yes, but I’m hungry”

“But get out of the pigsty first and then we’ll talk.”

The ideal example, of course, is that parable that Jesus spoke about with the prodigal son. Remember, he wanted his money. He went and squandered it. His father never ran after him. He just sat there at home and prayed, and eventually the devil took that man literally to hell. He ended up in the pigsty, eating the pig's food, and then he came to his senses. He came home and his dad was waiting for him and he was completely restored.

Today, apply that scripture and let the Holy Spirit do the work. God bless you and have a wonderful day.
    Goodbye.

  • In Power

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 17th of September, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in 2 Chronicles 16:9:

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

Then we go to 1 Corinthians 4:20:

“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.”

Oh folks, these are serious words. It’s not just a life of talking. One translation says, “a life not only of just hot air but of power.” Another translation says, “Not just a life of impressive words”. I remember like yesterday when I was a new Christian, I was reading a Christian magazine and there was a cartoon in that magazine. I will never forget it as long as I live. It was a picture of a big fat preacher, holding a massive black Bible, and he was preaching down, pointing his finger to a skinny little boy who also had a big fat tummy, but it wasn’t because of food, and he had a little begging bowl in his hand. And the caption underneath said, “Will there be food in Heaven?” That really knocked me.

This faith of yours and mine is not just about words. It is about power in the demonstration of action. We have got to walk the talk. We have said it so many times, haven’t we? Faith is a doing word. Faith has got feet. Faith is a verb, it is not a noun, like a table!

Maybe today you need to just come aside for a little bit and say, “Lord, what can I do physically? I can’t earn my way to Heaven. I know that. I am saved by grace and not by action, but You have reminded us today, Lord, that this walk of ours is of the power of God, demonstrated through action. So today, Lord, show us who we can phone, somebody who we can visit, somebody we can just bring a little bunch of flowers, or just a little pot of honey or just a lovely book that they can read, or just a phone call to say, “You know something? I really appreciate and love you.” That might just save their lives. Today, let us not just talk. Let us act.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.

    Goodbye.

  • Good Stewards

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is Wednesday morning, 16th September 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

    We start in Psalm 119:105:

”Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Then we go straight to 1 Corinthians 4:1:

”Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.”

The Lord has called you and me to be stewards for Him. A steward is a person who has been found faithful over the things of God. He or she is trustworthy, reliable, entrusted with the Word of God, being a good manager of the things of God. Oh, my dear friend, we need to really look after the Word of God. There are so many opinions of people saying this about the Bible, saying that about the Bible. You can’t just believe whatever somebody tells you, you have to back it up with Scripture.

So if he comes to you and tells you that he’s got a new revelation, you must ask him a question. “Can you show me in the Bible where it says that?” If he says, ”No, no. I can’t show you in the Bible. It’s just something that I believe the Lord has shown me,” you cannot believe it. The Bible is what we use as our gauge to steward over the things of the Lord.

I remember many years ago, going to visit a muslim in his house, he invited me in for coffee. I walked into his house, a very nice house, and we sat down in low chairs and I took my Bible with me and I put it on the carpet on the floor next to my chair. When he walked in, the first thing he said to me was, ”Please, Sir, do not leave that book on the floor. Please put that book on the coffee table.” A muslim who reveres even the word of God, and we need to do the same.

I remember going to a church and hearing the pastor, many years ago, trying to emphasise the importance of the word of God. He said, ”Take your Bibles, put them on the floor and stand on the word of God. He was just trying to make a point but it was very distasteful, standing with your boots or your shoes on top of the word of God. There are people in the persecuted countries that would give you as much as you wanted to purchase one of those Bibles, which are not available. We need to be good stewards of what God has given to us to look after, for Him and for our people, our family. Teach your child to never throw the Bible on the ground. It is not a toy. Treat it with much love and care!

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.

    Goodbye.
