Emily here! - For the last 5 years, Michael and I have talked about spending our anniversary in New Orleans and we were blessed to be able to visit two weeks ago. We decided to vlog the whole thing, along with recording a NOLA recap episode when we arrived home. The trip and the recording of this episode happened before the recent hurricane and Tori, Lindsey and I debated if we should even release it, but in the end, we love the city and its residents and wanted to celebrate the people and places that make New Orleans so special.

We had also planned an entire month of New Orleans-themed true-crime cases, and have decided to move forward with the idea, but we would like to turn this into a fundraising opportunity for the people affected by the storm. This fundraiser has closed! :) $226 was donated to hurricane relief! FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2021, ALL OF OUR PATREON FUNDS WILL BE DONATED TO A HURRICANE RELIEF CHARITY

We learn about Ruthie Mae McCoy. In the 1980's Ruthie was a resident of the notorious Grace Abbott building that was allllso a part of the infamous Cabrini Green, Chicago Illinois Housing Project. Things don't go too well when a medicine cabinet falls out of the wall in Ruthie's bathroom.

Rodney Alcala may have “won” the dating game, but he was just a loser and murderer in real life. He had a genuinely normal upbringing, and was smart and talented but chose to be a murderous leech to society.
Tori takes us on the wild ride of the crime/serial killer-riddled ’70s. During that time Alcala is just one of the multiple active serial killers. His time in the judicial system is absolutely ridiculous. Trying to capture and keep this rapist, murdering villain behind bars until his death on July 24th, 2021 was an ORDEAL.
