Buckle up, Podsters; we're about to talk stress, pain, and peak performance, and specifically how these are all related. Our guest, Dr. Audra Lance, joins us today to help us thrive through the holidays because it's not normal to not feel good.
You know all too well that when December hits, overcommitting begins. Parties, catching up with old friends, family time, spreading joy—it's a whirlwind. Today we hear a few practical and actionable tips from Dr. Audra on how to avoid holiday stress: listen to your body, pay attention to your feelings, and maybe, just maybe, say no.
Remember, YOU get to choose who gets your energy. YOU decide when to slow down or when to stop.
Here’s something to think about: The stress in your life affects more than just your mind. Stress could be what’s behind your physical pain and managing stress = managing pain.
Three tips from the Doctor on how to remain centered and present this week, next week and if you try all of these: for most of the time.
1 A 30-second practice is Dr. Audra's go-to for letting go of stress in the middle of the day. Step outside or sit in your car alone, feel the sunlight on your face, and take a few deep breaths for 30 seconds. It's a simple yet powerful way to hit pause, calm your nerves, and regain focus. You’re important. Take this time for yourself!
2 Setting boundaries is essential for everything in life, from work commitments to social engagements. Being mindful of your body and not overcommitting are keys to self-care, especially during hectic times like the holidays. Keeping these boundaries requires saying no when necessary.
3 Mindful breathing is a powerful tactic for managing stress, pain, and overall well-being. It's simple, and it works wonders. Consider this a free way to calm your nervous system and boost your health.
Stress and pain are real, Podsters and they are mostly under your control.
Make those 30 seconds count, set some boundaries, and breathe your way to well-being.
