I was sitting in the emergency room, calm as could be. I wasn’t pacing, I wasn’t tapping my foot, and I wasn’t torqued up. I was actually... CALM. And I knew exactly why.
Ever heard of a glimmer, Podsters?
A glimmer is a scientific, nervous-system-soothing micro-moment that can shift your entire day. These are often-overlooked experiences that spark calm, connection, and joy… and they matter more than we think.
Today, I’m sharing why I’ve become obsessed with this concept, how a small moment of sunshine literally saved my day, and what a horseshoe, an art piece, and a perfectly-timed letter have to do with emotional regulation.
I’m not talking about toxic positivity or ignoring the hard stuff – I’m saying it’s a CHOICE to anchor yourself in the good, the positive, and in what’s working. It’s about choosing to anchor, even when things are chaotic. Especially when they are.
So often we talk about triggers – how someone or something sets off an emotional reaction. And I get it, we all have them. So, let’s ask ourselves, are we giving more life to the trigger, or the glimmer?
What you look for you will find. And this week, let’s look for the glimmers.
They’re already happening. Notice them. Name them. Let them land.
Bonus points for sharing one glimmer with me on Instagram – you know where to find me!
