Are you unreasonably pale and generally awful to be around? Do you sparkle in the low winter sun and pout in biology class? Do you watch teenagers sleep and they’re surprisingly cool with it? Then you may just be a character in the movie Twilight (2008), the Catherine Hardwicke helmed first entry in the series that was a cultural phenomenon. Will these vamps go all batty, or get im-Pal-ed? Come along with us, your Pals, to find out!
The Pals go through a Stargate (1994), and do some inter-dimension-Pal travel… that’s it. What do you want from us?!
Oh, and maybe the distant dimension is a land of James Spader crushes, irrationally high scores, and Egyptian style Pal-ramids...
Attend the tale of Forrest Gump
An American lad always took for a chump
He journeyed so far and incrediby wide
While Bubba and Dan came along for the ride
Yes Forrest
The dim-witted man who could run
FUN!
This week the Pals are chasing down the all-time '90s classic, Robert Zemeckis' Academy Award-winning mainstay about a slow man who lived life in the fast lane. Tune in for stories of Jenny on the lam, plenty of Vietnam and shrimp boats full of dim folks, as well as some once-in-a-lifetime encounters with US Presidents, soft-spoken Beatles and none other than Elvis Pal-resley himself!
This week, as the listener's choice series dries up, the Pals set sail for the distant shores of Waterworld, Kevin Reynolds’ notorious epic from 1995, when the oceans were rising, the world’s natural resources were shrinking and movies were written by coked-out jet ski enthusiasts. Well, we suppose nothing has changed really all that much, but we’re still excited to dive in with K. Cost and the crew for this sea-faring escapade that joins Mad Max with catamarans, and the Atlantic with the Pal-cific!
Strap in for some galactic galavanting, as the Pals delve into a little known indie sci-fi gem all about homoerotic-robotics and space-side genocide. That’s right, George Lucas’ classic Star Wars (1977) is in our crosshairs and we are ready to hit the hyperdrive… pedal, I’m guessing? At any rate, we here at Throw in the Pal are never too proud, noble or smart to avoid making the obvious joke, so come with us on a journey, set a long time ago, in a Pal-axy far, far away…
🎶 This is the story of a world,
That got infected and quickly unfurled,
With monkeys filled with rage let out of there cage,
And everything imploded,
After a whiiiiiile! 🎶
Specifically, that short while was 28 Days Later (2002), the guerrilla style zombie flick from Danny Boyle that brought Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris into our lives and the firelight of a dying world, splattered with grim visions of our potential Pal-ocalypse.
This week, the Pals delve into the story of Promising Young Woman (2020), Emerald Fennell’s Oscar-winning tale of rambunctious revenge. Carey Mulligan stars as a millennial spin on the femme fatale archetype who’s hell-bent on, as Frank gleefully puts it, “a spree!” Throw in Bo Burnham as a dubiously decent guy singing along to Paris Hilton in a pharmacy, and it sounds Pal-romising to me!
Like a tempest in Tahiti, this week there's some Tropic Thunder a-brewin'! Famed for its cultural sensitivity and political correctness, Ben Stiller's 2008 comedy stars himself, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. as actors on the quest for the perfect Vietnam war movie, while our Pals find themselves with guts busted and sides split from the ensuing chaos. Movie coulda used some more na-Pal-m, though.
"Knock knock!"
"Whose in there?"
"In Bruges, yeah!"
So now, not only do you have a cool new knock-knock joke that’ll make you the life of the party, you also get to listen to the Pals’ waxing poetic all about In Bruges (2008), a cult classic of Irish proportions that also doubles as a travelogue of perfectly-preserved medieval Belgium, that tells a tale of morality, boredom, responsibility and cocaine that’ll have you singin’ “Oh, Pally boy, the pipes, the pipes are Palling!”
WHOOSH! CHOO-CHOO! What was that? Something with the speed of a bullet and in the shape of a train? Do words even exist to describe such a contraption?! Yes, that’s right, this week the Pals are riding on the Bullet Train (2022), joining Brad Pitt and an eclectic ensemble in the action-comedy set entirely on an express engine. Pall aboard!

Welcome to Throw in the Pal, a podcast where three mildly talented, majorly struggling actors attempt the impossible in looking for fresh material to mine for online discourse. And wouldn’t you…
