  • Throwdown Ep. 33 - "The Mod Rules"
Shortly after we recorded the last episode of Throwdown, a spark was ignited. A spark which caused a wildfire on the internet. What happened? Valve and Bethesda announced that they would begin to charge people for Skyrim mods on Steam. The folks were not happy and let their outrage be know. Even the former god Gabe Newell was vilified during this conflict which eventually ended with the termination of the paid mod system.
This situation forms the basis of our main topic. We talk about how things went wrong, what the community actually wants with regards to modders getting paid, and how companies should approach this in the future.
For gaming news we talk about the removal of the P.T demo from PSN. This happened due to the whole Kojima/Konami war which has unfortunately claimed the life of what P.T would have become: Silent Hills. We discuss this situation, Konami's future, and about how companies should let their talent do what they need to do instead of restricting them.
Other gaming topics include: Mighty No. 9 coming to retail with the help of Deep Silver, E3's first PC gaming conference, and how the PlayStation 4 has sold 22.3 million units so far.
We cover two pop culture items this week. The first is the announcements of a new Dragon Ball Z anime which is headed by series creator Akira Toriyama. What do we expect from this new show? Lastly, we talk about the other thing that broke the internet over the weekend: the official reveal of Jared Leto's Joker. We discuss the controversy over the character's appearance and how we think the clown prince of crime will be handled in the DC Cinematic Universe.
This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, and Brett Murdock.

  • Throwdown Ep. 32 - "Microsoft: From Green to Red"
What's great about math is that it's a simple thing to understand on the surface. If you sell something for less money and don't sell a lot of that thing, you will not make a profit. Such is the case with the Xbox One. Though it is priced at $349, this hasn't helped to move a significant amount of systems and this in turn has cut into Microsoft's revenue.
Our main topic deals with this latest news from the Microsoft camp. We discuss how the company's gaming division got into this state, why people aren't buying the Xbox One in droves like they are the PlayStation 4, and what the company can possibly do to correct this problem.
Aside from the Xbox One news which literally dropped a couple of hours before we began recording, there wasn't much notably happenings in the gaming world this week. We talk about the release of Star Wars: Battlefront which was unveiled last Friday, and about Square-Enix's newly announced E3 event.
On the Pop Culture side we have a few interesting things to discuss. The main one is about the controversy surrounding the Calgary Comic Expo which closed down the Honey Badger Brigade booth due to its friendly stance on GamerGate. We also talk about how Marvel has turned the young Ice-Man gay while keeping the modern one straight. Finally, we end things with the announcement that Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series will get a second season next year.
This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Brian Munjoma, Rachael Murdock, Brett Murdock, and Chris Sealy.

  • Spoiler Alert! - Marvel's Daredevil
Daredevil is one of Marvel's best but often overlooked superheroes. The 2003 film left a bad first impression with folks, and many believed that the property would never be done with the sort of care that it deserved. Thankfully Marvel, who now own the rights to the character, created a TV show which perfectly captures the spirit of the Daredevil books and thus, has shown the world why ol' hornhead is a character to be respected.
On this episode we discuss the show's characters, the various plot lines, realistic fight sequences, all of the homages to the comics, and what this series means for comic book based media going forward. As an added bonus, we're joined by Baby and The Beard themselves, Matthew Dixon and Jaydon Goss.
This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Matthew Dixon, Jaydon Goss, and Anthony Nash.

  • Throwdown Ep. 30 - "Electronic Hero"
On tonight's episode we welcome special guest Andrew Dickman. Andrew is a YouTube personality and an animator who is a devout geek. We ask him about his career, including his stint on Channel Awesome, his current channel: Electronic Heroes, about his webcomic: The Roomies and much more.
Not much happened in gaming this past week. Since that's the case, we focus the gaming part on two interesting developments within our ranks. First up, Brian, our resident PC Master Racer, has bought a PlayStation 4. He gives us his impressions of the console and reveals the third mystery game he purchased along with Bloodborne (which came with the system) and Grand Theft Auto V. Speaking of Bloodborne, your humble host recently purchased the game and is actually enjoying it despite his original misgivings.
Unlike gaming, a lot of stuff happened in Pop Culture for us to talk about. We got two reveals this week: One of Daredevil's red costume, and another of what Thing will look like in the Fantastic Four movie. We give our thoughts on how both of these characters look. Artist Frank Cho caused some controversy when he (essentially) gave the middle finger to those who complain about "sexy" comic book covers with two pieces he drew which were inspired by the Spider-Woman #1 variant cover. This leads into a larger conversation about our "outrage society" and creator's rights.
This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Rachael Murdock, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy, Kristin Carella, and Matthew Dixon. Special thank to our guest Andrew Dickman.
