  • Throwdown Ep. 25 - "You Down With GDC?"
The Game Developers Conference was the talk of the gaming world this week. Many new and exciting things were revealed during this event so we've dedicated the majority of this episode to it. We discuss all of the VR tech on display, Valve and Steam Machines, Microsoft and Sony's announcements, Metal Gear Solid V's release date, and Tim Schafer's offensive remarks and actions.
We finish the show off by discussing the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. The trailer contains a lot of juicy bits for us to chew on and we break down everything we find significant about it.

  • Throwdown Ep. 24 - "Press X to Win"
With The Order: 1886's controversial release still on everyone's lips, the subject of Quick Time Events has risen again. Though the mechanic has a long and storied history, many feel it's not a valid (or even real) gameplay mechanic. For our main topic we discuss QTEs from both sides. We debate why they are/aren't a viable way to interact with games and also talk about some games that had the best and worst QTEs.
On the Gaming News front, we discuss the return of Battle Chasers. Battle Chasers seemed to have been all but abandoned by series creator Joe Madureira but now he has teamed up with ex-members of Vigil Games (known for Darksiders) to bring it back in video game form. We also discuss Microsoft slashing the price of Xbox Live Gold membership and how March will see some GOOD games on Games With Gold. Will all of this make the Xbox brand more appealing for those on the fence?
For Tech News we obviously talk about the FCC's ruling on Net Neutrality. With the law being enforced, the internet will remain "free" and companies will be prevented from data throttling or giving preferential treatment to specific entities. We talk about how this is both good and bad.
Finally we have Pop Culture News. First up is the rumor that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Spider-Man won't be played by a white actor. Is it smart to not have the classic Peter Parker in the MCU? We also talk about how director Neil Blomkamp is officially signed on to helm the next Alien movie. How will erasing the last two Alien movies help the franchise and what does the director intend to bring to the table? We break it all down.
This show features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Rachael Murdock, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy, Kristin Carella, and special guest Colby Schumacher.

  • Spoiler Alert! - The Order - 1886
This being the first (proper) Spoiler Alert! for a video game, we had to make sure it was for one we could really... sink our teeth into. That's right we're talking about The Order: 1886.
This goes beyond our review and gets down to all of the nuts and bolts of the game, its story, and if it was ultimately successful in what it tried to accomplish. We also discuss some of the things we felt didn't work and also predict what we think the next game will be like and what we'd like to see from it.

Here are all the questions we answer this week:
*Between Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, who do you think would be missed the least/most if they got out of the gaming business?
*What upcoming Xbox One games will help the system catch up to the PlayStation 4's sales?
*Do the triggers on the Xbox One controller rumble every time you press it?
*Will 2015 see a legit increase in the mainstream legitimacy of independently developed video games?
*Between Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and The Witcher 3, which will execute on a grander scale?
*Why does the blanket statement of "no games coming out" overshadow the fact that we're getting AAA attempts at original IPs at this current stage?
*What are your thoughts on the new Square Enix Collective?
*Why do so many Japanese PC games receive bad ports?
*What are your thoughts on Better Call Saul?
*Why do comic book fans get a pass when they spoil shit as compared to those who spoil games/movies/tv/ect.?
*Did the order 1886 just set up Quantum break to fail?
*If Ready at Dawn patches in campaign co-op and multiplayer as free dlc, should the review scores be revised for The Order?
*If Sony and Microsoft announce backwards compatible 4k consoles for $500 would you buy them?

  • Throwdown Ep. 23 - "Length Matters"
More so than any other generation, the length of a video game has become a hot topic among gamers these days. While some feel that a game's value is determined by the amount of time it takes to complete it, others feel that quality is more important than length. We on Throwdown have differing opinions on this subject and tonight we discuss it... at length (pun intended). We state why a game should give gamers as much as possible and why length doesn't matter if the title is good.
No Pop Culture or Tech News this week but we have a few gaming related items to discuss. The first one is about Sony. The company has announced that it will stop producing Smartphones and Televisions and instead focus on its entertainment and gaming divisions. This last one is no surprise given that the PlayStation brand is one of Sony's more profitable ventures. This also brings us to a recent report that estimates the PlayStation 4 will sell close to 80 million consoles and the Xbox One will sell 57 million by the year 2019.
Gamers had a collective mini-heart attack earlier this week when a report surfaced that Sony had not renewed the trademark for The Last Guardian. Some believed that this was a either a sign of a name change or, in the worst case scenario, that Sony had given up on the title. This wasn't the case as the trademark was eventually renewed, but it goes to show that gamers are still heavily invested in the game. We discuss this whole situation.
To finish things off we discuss Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on the Wii U. Or rather, why it WON'T be on Nintendo's platform. Given that this series originated on the 3DS this is a very strange thing indeed. Even stranger that Capcom have flat out said the game isn't on the Wii U because it could only run on "new systems." If the Wii U is a current-gen system, why would Capcom say this?
This week’s Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy, Charles Singletary Jr., Anthony Nash, and JakeJames Lugo.

  • Throwdown Your Questions Ep. 22
Welcome to another episode of Throwdown Your Questions. This is the show which is run by you, our loyal followers. We answer any and all Video Game, Pop Culture and Tech related questions on this podcast.
Here are all the questions we answer this week:
*What fighting game do you prefer to get this gen?
*If someone else directs Transformers, will I finally get a Transformers Spoiler Alert?
*What old game would you like to see remastered?
*How can you FAIRLY cover something when ALL of you are so anti-Nintendo and Microsoft, and are Sony and PC fanboys?
*If Microsoft got their way with DRM, what would happen if XBL (which goes down as much as PSN) went down?
*Which of the big three consoles has the best controller scheme?
*If you had to get rid of one of your senses for a million dollars, which would it be?
*Tony, why do you find eating so annoying when there are so many kind of different foods to enjoy?
*Would Andrew Garfield have been a good fit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
*What was so bad about Jupiter Ascending? Have the Wachoski's made anything good after The Matrix?
*Do you think sites like IGN will remove review scores? Will smaller sites stay on Metacritic?
Bonus: We get into a deep discussion about The Order: 1886 and it's (supposedly) short game length. This conversation also leads into our thoughts on multiplayer modes in games.
This week’s Throwdown Your Questions features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Brett Murdock, and Chris Sealy. Special appearance by Charles Singletary Jr.

  • Throwdown Ep. 22 - "Menace to Society"
The featured topic this week is about how society views gamers. This was inspired by the #GamerGate episode of Law & Order: SVU which hit every single gamer/gaming cliche imaginable. We discuss how archaic views about gaming and gamers still persist and the hypocrisy of sites who perpetuated this image that have condemned this portrayal of gamers.
Before we go into that topic though we talk about the biggest game of the week: Evolve. Our very own Editor-in-Chief, Richard Bailey Jr., is on deck to give us his thoughts on the game. This also leads into a discussion about games which are primarily multi-player focused and how much value they provide to gamers.
Not much else happened in gaming but we do have one news item which is a bit disturbing. It's about Peter Molyneux's broken promise to the person who finished Curiosity. This person was promised a life changing experience if they completed the game but this didn't come to pass. This is another example of Molyneux's over-exaggerations which would be comical if it wasn't for the fact that a real person was cheated and lied to.
As far as Pop Culture news goes, there is only one thing on the docket: Spider-Man is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Tony, Emilio and Richard (along with Charles Singletary Jr.) already spoke about this on the latest React Podcast but more information has been released and the other members of the crew need to chime in with their thoughts.
This week's Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Rachael Murdock, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy, Richard Bailey Jr., and JakeJames Lugo.

  • The React Podcast Ep. 13 - Spider-Man Joins The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Our very own Tony Polanco and Emilio Lopez are on the latest episode of The Koalition's React Podcast. Since this is something Throwdown fans would enjoy, we have it here for you guys.
To see the video version of this episode, make sure to follow this link: http://thekoalition.com/videos/react-podcast-episode-spider-man-joins-marvel-cinematic-universe/
    The original post is below:
Marvel Studios and Sony dropped a thermonuclear bomb at the stroke of midnight when they officially announced that Spider-Man will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To use the official language, the MCU is coming to the Spider-Man franchise, but it’s semantics really. What’s important is that now Spidey will be appearing in Marvel Studios films and characters from that studio will be appearing in Spider-Man movies from Sony.
News of this magnitude needed its very own React Podcast and that’s exactly what we have for you here. We go in-depth about this announcement means for both the Spidey franchise and the MCU. We also discuss who we would like to see as the web-slinger and which villains would be great for this rebooted series. Since we’re all huge comic book nerds we reference a lot of stuff that isn’t normally brought up in these conversations as well.
This React Podcast features: Tony Polanco (host), Charles Singletary Jr., Emilio Lopez, and Richard Bailey Jr.
Intro and outro music composed by Simon Stevens.
