  • Throwdown Ep. 21 - "Sony Offline Entertainment"
For this week's featured topic, we discuss Sony selling off Sony Online Entertainment. Though it was sold due to it not being as profitable as Sony would have liked, it was still something that distinguished Sony from its competitors. We discuss what this all means for Sony and how Microsoft stands to benefit from this.
On the gaming news front we get into Nintendo's YouTube policy where they are asking those who upload gameplay videos of their titles to give them a 30-40% cut of the earnings. Is this a fair deal? We also talk about how Sega recently said that it is moving away from producing console games and instead focusing on PC and mobile. Is this a wise move for the company? Lastly, we talk about the rumor of 4k capable current-gen consoles being produced this year. Are 4K gaming consoles, let alone 4K TVs, something that the public is ready at this time?
For Tech News we talk about how Radio Shack has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. We discuss how they managed to get themselves into this situation and if a store like Radio Shack is even relevant anymore.
We of course finish the show with Pop Culture news. Emilio and your humble host geek out over the recently released Daredevil trailer. After the horror that was the Fox film, the world may finally get a true representation of this character. Speaking about superheroes, we discuss Superman's new power which will debut soon. Is this power one that will actually stick? We also talk about Disney eyeing Chris Pratt for the leading role in the reboot of Indiana Jones and our impressions of the Jurassic World trailer. Lastly, Tony gives his mini-review of Jupiter Ascending. A film he is dubbing "Battlefield Earth 2015."
This week’s Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy and, making his Throwdown debut, Gary A. Swaby. Thanks to our special guest Randil Hines (Ghostdini85).

  • Otanime Ep. 01 - "Anime Kick Ass"
Welcome to the first episode of Otanime! This show is all about geeking out over animation produced by the Japanese. Each month we'll talk about the latest anime series and movies and of course, talk about the old-school stuff which everything is built around.
On this inaugural episode, we each tell our Anime origin stories. We got into this form of animation during different eras and for different reason. We get into why we love Anime and why we think it's one of the best forms of animation created by man.
As will be standard for every episode, we go in deep about all of the anime we're currently watching. We also talk about the anime we hope to watch in the coming months. Finally, we'll talk about the Anime of the month which is a show all of us have watched.
This episode of Otanime features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Chris Sealy, LeRay Williams, and Michael Crawford.

  • Throwdown Ep. 20 - "Nintendo on the Decline"
Given the most recent earnings report from Nintendo, we decided to make tonight's main topic about the Japanese gaming giant. We get into a discussion about how, despite catering to their fans, the company continues to struggle to remain relevant. Why is the Wii U system failing to sell despite it having more exclusives than its competitors? Is the 3DS the only thing keeping Nintendo afloat? Would becoming a third party developer help them? We get into all of this.
Since we have The Only One: Rikuson1 (Michael Crawford) with us tonight, we had to bring up the latest Vita news. As we reported earlier this week, Sony's handheld is losing three apps: Maps, Near, and YouTube. Although some of us think this isn't a big deal, others believe this is a sign of Sony completely giving up on the system.
The week began with the sad news of the much beloved and respected gaming site Joystiq being shutting down. This is obviously big news given how long the site has been around. Considering how the story is also about how hard it is for journalists to keep a job in this industry, this story hits a bit close to home for some of us.
We round things off with Pop Culture news. The first trailer for the rebooted Fantastic Four was released this week. Your humble host has been highly critical of this film but is this trailer now making him eat crow? We also talk about the possibility of a live action X-Men TV series coming to Fox. Could this show about mutants succeed where Heroes failed?
This week’s Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy and Anthony Nash. Thanks to our special guest Michael Crawford.

  • Throwdown Ep. 19 - "Windows into the Future/Hollow Promises"
Our main topic this week is about the biggest gaming/tech news story: Microsoft's Windows 10 event. A lot of new things were unveiled such as Windows 10, the Xbox App, and of course, HoloLense. This last one is a bit contentious since Brett sees VR as the wave of the future while Emilio and myself see it as another fad that's destined to fail. We break down all of the things we liked and all of the things we're skeptical of.
We have the return of Rachael Murdock who is nice and fired up over recent developments within the #GamerGate community. One of the more prominent members of the group, Lizzyf620, recently had an editorial about the movement taken down from Buzzfeed under "mysterious" circumstances. Now she's been forced to effectively go into hiding because she was doxxed by her opponents. Rachael also gives us a status report on her fight with breast cancer.
We end things off with the Marvel Comics Universe. Earlier this week, The House of Ideas revealed that their upcoming Secret Wars cross-over event would merge the Marvel and Ultimate Universes into one, effectively ending the original Universe which started in 1961. This is obviously big news and we go into detail about what we think will happen and why we think Marvel is making such a monumental move.
This week's Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Rachael Murdock, Brett Murdock and Chris Sealy.

  • Throwdown Ep. 18 - "Let's Talk About Xbox, Baby"
Did you hear the news? The Xbox One managed to outsell the PlayStation 4 two months in a row. This is obviously a big deal considering that Microsoft's current-gen system has been on the ropes this entire time. Because of this, we had to make this subject our first main topic.
Our second topic is about how preorders are actually becoming more ridiculous these days. This (somehow) leads into a discussion about how games should follow the early access model so that fans have a say into how a game is made. We eventually come back to the topic and talk about how pre-orders aren't all that bad and how ultimately they are for the consumer to invest in or ignore.
Our third (yes, THIRD) main topic is on the latest Nintendo Direct. To be honest, the real reason this is a main topic is because we have News Editor Anthony Nash on this week who is an avid Nintendo fan debating our own Chris Sealy who... isn't.
On the gaming news front, we go further into December's NPD numbers. The top 10 games of 2014 were revealed and while there were the usual suspects, there were some surprise omissions.
Pop Culture news is Disney-centric this week. We discuss, or rather... celebrate, that George Lucas had originally intended to direct Star Wars: Episode VII but decided not to. Bullet. Dodged. We also give our impressions of the latest trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron. A trailer that Brian Munjoma has no doubt seen several hundred times just today.
This week’s Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy, and Anthony Nash.
