What words come to mind when you think about church? For many people words like “boring” and “judgemental” are the first words that come to mind … and yet the words joy/joyful/rejoice appear over 400 times in the Bible. In this message we look at what the Bible says about joy and how we can live with joy today - especially in the middle of the difficult times in our lives.

How to hear God speak through other people

Understanding miracles in the Bible

Generosity

Jesus points to a poor woman he notices donating a few cents and says “this woman gave more”. His words would transform the way people saw giving and generosity forever. Today we explore those same words and ask “how do these words change us?”.

Lukewarm Christianity

We often think of Jesus as a kind, gentle man. And he was. But Jesus got angry. In this series we’re looking at what made Jesus angry, and what this means for us today. In this episode, we explore Jesus’ anger when he saw a church that was “lukewarm” in their commitment to God. It made him mad! Jesus’ words are an important challenge to a 21st century world that is pulled in every direction and where lukewarm, half-hearted faith is so easy in our busy over-committed lives.

2. How do you avoid lukewarm faith in your own life?

3. What does it look like for you to love God “with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”?

It’s not about how you look

In this episode, we explore Jesus’ anger when he saw people focussed on “outward appearances” instead of what’s important inside a person. It made him mad! Jesus’ words are an important challenge to a 21st century world that seems obsessed with what we wear, where we live, what we drive and what we buy.

2. In your own words, why do you think Jesus was angry about the way people were focussed on outward things rather than the inside things?
