Detroit Tigers beat Athletics in the first game of a 3-game series at Comerica Park. Tarik Skubal started the game for Detroit Tigers and in a total rarity Skubal surrendered two home runs. Detroit Tigers offense came alive as Kerry Carpenter hit a two-run homer in the first, and in the bottom of the third, Detroit Tigers offense scored 5 runs when Wenceel Perez hit a two-run double and Dillon Dingler smashed a three-run bomb to give the Tigers a 7-4 lead. Zach McKinstry singled home Wenceel Perez and Riley Greene to give the Tigers a 9-4 lead before Riley Greene capped the scoring with a two-run single in the 8th to make it 11-4. Wenceel Perez made two outfield assists from right field to help halt an Athletics rally in the top of the 7th. Detroit Tigers are back to 20 games above .500 and will look to take the series over the A’s tomorrow.
